Dark ruby-brown with a thin creamy tan head. Intense aromas of roasted nuts, fruity hops, red fruits, raspberry and caramel. Full body, really nice malt orgy, flavourfull nutty character backed by generous hoppiness and a long, fruity, warming finish. Intense hybrid imperial brown/black barley wine. really enjoyable on this winter day, even if the alcohol is making its way trough my body very fast with this one. On tap at the brewpub, aged 6 months

In short: A exaggeratedly corpulent sweet beer with a ton of toffee/caramel and fruity hops. Fun sipper.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Dark brown body topped by a small beige head of foam
In long: Nose is has plenty of toffee with fruity hops in the back. Taste is a malt orgy. Extra rich toffee and caramel. You can almost eat this beer with a fork. Carbonation is a bit too soft and the beer feels very syrupy and sticky. Floral and fruity hops lighten things up in the finish. Obviously quite sweet. Alcohol a little apparent which was surprising considering how corpulent the beer was. A fun malt orgy that might be a little too nourishing for its own good. One glass is more than enough. This was a collaboration brew so I’m not sure it will be made again. It might already be gone by the time I enter my rating. If you cannot get the Morning Wood anymore, don’t worry, there is now a blue pill that can really help you.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thin lacing moka head. A smooth caramel malt aroma with light floral hops, and light vinous notes, meaty and interesting. In mouth, a superb ale with light licorice, maple wood, vinous, barley wine like, smooth c-hops, plain delicious. On tap at brewpub, Sept. 25 2010.

Tap. Clear brown pour, creamy off white head. Aroma is quite toffee - brown ale and only slightly hoppy. Same for the taste. I was surprised at this beer’s massive IBU, the malt they chose was certainly in control of things, the cascade hops were present but not overpowering. If anything this beer was a bit cloying. Overall an interesting brew.

Drank on tap (10 oz only) at their brewpub, on October 30, 2010. Very dark brown, thin head. Barley malt aroma with notes of caramelized nuts. Sweet taste of barley, very malty with notes of hazelnut, a typical Cheval Blanc bitter aftertaste but far from intense. I have an idea what Morning Wood means, but I did not get any!

(Rating #3295)

Soooo sweet and yet so bitter, but the sweetness helps you get over the flower. Medium to heavy body. Microcarbonation - Nice. Overall, it would have been really interesting if it were to be less sweet...!

One of the headiest beers ever brewed @ Le Cheval, this dark brown poney boasts a fierce nutty, highly toasty and quite roasty nose where leafy, floral, citrusy hops are heavily aromatic for a non-IPA. In mouth, its strong malt foundations make its palate thick and chewy, the softest carbonation rhyming with a certain oiliness. Chocolatey, earthy palate where alcohol is felt all throughout even though it never dominates. Very tasty stuff that could have been brewed by the likes of Stone and in the case of such monsters, I’m rarely worthy.
