On tap at LCB in Oct ’05. 5oz sample. Looks black, at the bar, with a frothy, khaki head. The head sticks around and around like a nitro pour, but I am not sure it was. Coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and roasted malt aroma. The external cig smoke is a bit overwhelming. The taste is sweet, initially with roasty, chocolate, and coffee flavors, in fact, a lot of coffee. There is some bitterness that gives it espresso notes. The finish is moderately bitter. Full body.

12 oz. glass on tap at the brewpub. App.: very dark brown-black, barely a hint of red with a tight, creamy, light-tan head. Aroma: skunky coffee (French roast), a littel dark chocolate, cat pee (ammonia?) and not much else. Med.-full body, very low carbonation and slightly astringent. Flav.: black coffee and a bit of dark chocolate...close to the nose. Finishes a bit thin, slightly bitter with a black coffee aftertaste. Quite dry (hardly a sweet stout) and slightly tart. Lacks complexity, but quite drinkable.

Very black and opaque thick creamy brown head. Somewhat sweetish, medium bodied. Obvious oatmeal flavour, good bitterness. Well balanced very smooth.

Draught. Deep dark brown with a small yellow/mocha head. The aroma has chocolate creaminess, coffee roast but generally more of the former. Soft creamy body that leans towards the thin side. Dry fruitiness and chocolate finish. Not bad.

Coffee and dark chocolate aroma, dark brown, small toffee head. Flavour is a full roast coffee, chocolate comes along afterward. Very sour/bitter, with a much appreciated dry finish. Quite nice.

Very interesting, little too heavy but nit in the rest. Good foam and very yeasty.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was black with a small khaki head. The aroma was coffee with a little bit of chocolate. The taste was weak coffee with more mild chocolate. The body was smooth and mild overall. Leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

. On tap at the brewpub. Pitch black, creamy big tan heads - looks about as it good as it can, I loved it. Nitro kills aroma - mild roast, but that’s it. Very dry, roast, oatmeal taste. Medium creamy body, but despite the nitro (or accentuated by it) it is too thin. Stays dry to the end. A very tasty session stout.

Dernière de quatre verres de dégustations. Très noir, goût de café et de mocha, pas si sucré, assé amère.
