Black, dense nitro tan head. Roasted coffee grains in the aroma, slightly creamy and chocolatey. The same profile keeps going on in mouth, rather lactic, very quaffable. Mild and refreshing stout, easy to take and well made, but on the counterpart a bit thin.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2010 In short: A commercial black cake in a pint.
How: Tap at brewpub.
The look: Black body topped by a medium persistent tan head
In long: Timid slightly roasted nose. Fluffy/foamy body. Taste of roasted dark malts, black chocolate, some lactic notes, light coffe hints. More precisely this beer really tastes like a generic black cake. Everything from the taste, mouthfeel and finish reminded me of a *DANY* Dunkin Heinz black cake. Nothing special about it but this is a reliable beer and a regular of the Cheval Blanc lineup and as such this beer has become my late-night fallback choice. This beer and my ex-girlfriend phone number.

Draught at Le Cheval Blanc. Pours black with an average to large lasting creamy/frothy tan head and good lacing on the glass -- looks lovely. Great aroma of roasted malt and coffee foremost followed by lactic notes and light leafy hops. Delicious flavour of roasted malt, coffee, cream and some chocolate. Average bitter finish. Medium+ bodied, creamy mouthfeel. A wonderful Oatmeal Stout -- I loved it.

On tap at Le Cheval Blanc, pours a dark amber brown with a small light brown head. Aroma of light caramel malts and dry fruits - doesn’t smell like a stout. Flavour of subtle dark fruits and caramel malts, some very light roasted malt. Very light-bodied for a stout. Decent flavours but the body doesn’t strike me as a stout. Weak, but drinkable.

[523-20070811] Tap @ Cheval Blanc (Montréal, QC). Coffee roasted malt aroma with some nice hints of nut. Black body with a quick foamy light tan head. Flavour holds roast bitter coffee malt with a nutty background and a sweet finish. Medium-full body. Not too heavy, the balance of bitterness and coffee and nuts is interesting.
