COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
15 degrees stand for 15 degrees Plato, the actual starting gravity of this Pils. Brewed with a floor malt from czech republic, hopped with german Magnum hop then dry hopped with german Spalt. 8 weeks lagering before release. It’s a deep golden lager with a heavy malty nose that combines with the spiciness of the hops. Full bodied, with good bitterness (54 IBU) and a medium dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A grainy honey nose, the Amarillo is distinct. The flavor is a earthy spicy dominated pils, some rich sweetness- a bit too sweet for me, but nice-, earthy and nice. A good pils.

A golden pils with a thin white head. In aroma, nice Saaz hops aroma and biscuitty malts, quite nice. In mouth, a smooth biscuitty malt with fresh floral hops, quite nice fresh floral hops, nice, crisp and smooth. On tap at Mondiale de la Bière 2010.

Aroma sweet nose with clean hop. Citric hints , refreshing hops are there. Nose of good stronger Pilsener.
Appearance lighter shade of gold with white top. Good presentation. 4-
Flavour and Palate refreshing with good character of grainy pale malt . Quiet bitter but with solid support of malt. Nice offering , not sure if I would call this Bohemian Pilsner.

My Bottom Line:
This hybrid of a 15° Světlé Speciální manages to keep you amazed throughout with its citrusy and herbal hop proclivities always surrounded by plump cereals.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Creamy foam sits atop the cloudy straw blond, decorated with sparks of brightness here and there.
-This is a very nice alternative to when their Bauweaerts Gouden Ale is not on the menu; similar hop profile and intensity, good drinkability and nourishment, no caramel malt flavors, etc.
-The version I drank was dry-hopped with Sladek and Premiant and bittered with Sterling and Amarillo, making it quite different from the previous batch, I imagine.
-The hop aroma could be brighter. It is a tad muddled as is.
-The Czech character is not easily identifiable, as the Amarillo varietal tends to overshadow the noble cultivars.
-All that being said, this is yet another very nice unfiltered Pilsener creation from Le Cheval Blanc.

On tap at the brewpub.

Slightly hazy pale golden topped by a generous creamy white head. Nose of hay and a touch of spicy hops. Medium body, nice raw malt presence, with a growing bitterness on the grassy side completed by a certain sugary sweetness. Long bitter finish. Interesting take on a deviant pilsner lurking toward a belgian blonde ale. Very good, with the alcohol warming the palate a little bit in the end. Interesting brew.

In short: A well malted and mega-saaz-hoppy “big” bohemian pilsner. Kick-ass.
How: Tap at brewpub. First batch ever (summer 2009)
The look: Partly cloudy blonde body topped by a small but persistent white head
In long: Nose is an onslaught of Saaz. This is a Saazy baby. There is a whole lot of cereals in this beer and coupled with a light sugary honey sensation the malts tasted like my Honeycombs™ breakfast cereals (yes, I eat Honeycombs). The pleasant nourishing body is chewy and a bit fluffy with an expansive carbonation. Bitterness is assertive, very dry and intense. No alcohol presence or “heavy” feeling, this is as drinkable as the over-the-top 5% bohemian pilsners I had fresh in Czech Republic. There is a light perfumy note on the nose that I didn’t find “authentic” but mostly this is spot-on authentic imperial bohemian pilsner that makes me wanna go back pub-crawling in Czech Republic instead of going back home watching midget porn. Wow, in a single rating I confessed eating Honeycombs™ and watching midget porn. I bet most people who know me didn’t suspect I eat Honeycombs™.
