The aroma is sweet with notes of tobacco as well as malt. The flavor is very dry roasted with notes of celery and chocolate, and a dry roasted end, while the mouthfeel is smooth. jsquire (2132), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

I sat at the window drinking a full glass of this watching the hippie wrestlers chant for freedom for Quebec. Dark beer with garnet hightlights when held up to the light. Creamy beige head with a sweet grain nose with some coffee. Flavors were right with some roast grain and coffee bean bitterness, but were pretty subtle. Standard porter. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2008 The pour reveals a black color with brown highlights and a medium, creamy, tan head. Aroma of coacoa and roasted malt, it’s quite pleasant dare I say. In the mouth, dryness takes control of the event while coacoa and roasted malt sneak in, there’s mild bitterness in the end. The body has a light to medium thickness with a smooth and creamy texture and gentle carbonation. Lubiere (4557), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2005 Deep dark porter with a reddish hue and an off-white to moka creamy head. Light chocolate and sweet malt aroma. Very rich roasted coffee bitterness, rich and lingering in mouth, like a cold coffee with light hops. Medium bodied. Very well done. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Almost black pour covered by a healthy off-white head. While never too sweet, this is a porter without much roastiness nor hoppiness. We’re mostly dealing with a powdery chocolate, borderline fudge beast. Powdery texture, light-medium bodied. Easily drinkable, soft palate, almost silky. hopscotch (5558), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The aroma and flavor are mostly nondescript with the exception of a mild waft of dark roast coffee. Well-bittered and decently balanced, but there’s nothing else going on. Medium-bodied and ultra-creamy with pillow-soft carbonation. Short, lightly bitter finish.
