(Rating #2790)

In short: A chocolaty dark ale with plenty of slightly sour cherries. Very nice.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Near black body topped by a long-lasting tan head
In long: Nose has plenty of cherries with light notes of chocolate. Body is full and smooth with a low-medium carbonation. Taste is cake malts, creamy black chocolate and sour cherries. Not a lot of complexity here but the chocolate flavor and sour cherries really work well together. They said that they used 1 pound of cherries per litter of beer. Holy crap! that’s a lot of cherries. I love cherries. They taste so different than broccoli.

A deep dark porter with a thick dark moka head. A pleasant aroma of cherry blossom chocolate, and light acidic points. In mouth, a lightly acidic cherry overlayed with bitter chocolates, almost veering on a kriek with chocolates, lighter bodied but good. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 5 2009.

Almost black with a pinkish hue topped with a thick tan head. Aromas of sour cherries and a bit of cocoa. Medium body, the sourness of the cherries hits first the side of your tongue, a little bready, with some lactic notes (oat?), finishes with a good dose of bitterness from the cocoa. Quite enjoyable and a pretty interesting and unique brew overall.
