3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Boutip (3467) - Gatineau, - JUN 27, 2011
Draft: Poured a dirty hazy beige color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet wheat malt with weird grapes notes. Taste is quite intense with loads of grapes notes with weird funky ester and a sweet wheat malt base. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Interesting experiment but there need to be some kind of attenuation for this to be more then a sipper.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Glouglouburp (4784) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 19, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 20, 2011 In short: A slightly wild/bretty ale that is very fruity with a vinous/white grapes character. Nice beer. How: Tap at brewpub The look: Cloudy dark orange topped by a very small beige head In long: Nose is moderately wild, a tiny bit leathery and a side of fruit salad. Taste is very fruity/juicy with gooseberries, grapes and apples. Aged in barrels but I would have never guessed, not much barrel is showing. The one barrel aged character that really comes out strong is moist rotting white grapes (called noble rot when you want to sound sophisticated). Brett presence is moderate, almost discreet, I think some age could do this beer some good. Finish manages to both dry yet very juicy/fruity. Light sourness and mild tartness. I think this beer has potential to be very good, but right now it is just “good”. When entering this rating I realized that today (sunday june 19th 2010) is father’s day, so to keep a consistency with the emails my parents send to me I will send them an “FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: Happy Father’s Day!” email.

Drank on tap (14 oz) at the brewpub, on June 10, 2011. Blonde gray, thin head. Aroma of wheat grapes a little sour. Taste of grapes infected with Brett, sweet malted wheat, a sour bitterness. A bacteria festival!

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 TaktikMTL (4252) - Montréal-Nord, Quebec, CANADA - APR 27, 2011
(Rating #3616)
