LadySusan (382), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada Apr 20, 2008 On tap at Cheval Blanc. The color is a dark hazy blond, with a white head. The taste and aroma is of spicies and malt. To go back to the taste it is also somewhat bitter and a bit watery.
App.: med. brownish copper with a foamy, sl. off-white head. Aroma: pine and malt, maybe cardamon, a metallic defect (again) and a hard-to-define skunky quality. Palate: med.-light body, aggressive, sharp carbonation. Flav.: that piney, cardamon flavour predominates (maybe it’s more like clove?), roasted malts and subdued fruitiness, lightly sweet and not the least bit bitter. A bit spicy on the finish. Not what I expected and that makes sense now that I read the description! Quevillon (1339), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Dec 14, 2006 Bu sur place en fut (10 oz). Blonde foncée, mince collet. Arome de malte fruité, très peu épicé. Goût d’houblon amère simplistique, faiblement épicé. Glouglouburp (2113), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 13, 2006 Updated: Jan 12, 2008Partly cloudy light bronze body topped by off-white ring. Nose is spicy barley candies and tree bark. Original and pleasant. Taste is peppery and overall very spicy. I also get fruity flavours like I get from artificially flavoured candies. There are also a lot of earthy roots and coniferous bark flavours in there. Nice contrast with the fruity spices and it works well. Sweet finish with dry non bitter hops. The over the top spicy candy thing would probably tire me out after a while but not before a pint or two. A very nice Christmas Season (Saison de Noel). If you knew my family you’d agree that a good Christmas Season can help me get through the Christmas season.
