3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4784) - Montreal, - SEP 8, 2011
In short: A muddy yeasty raspberry beer with mild funky notes. Good beer
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy amber-pink body topped by a small pink head
In long: Comparison rating only. This is “Le Cheval Blanc Saison Framboise” with brett. Somehow the brett didn’t kick-in very much in this beer compared to the other brett beers Cheval Blanc was serving on that night. Compared the regular Saison Framboise this Framboos version was more muddy (yeast soup) and less tart and only tried to make up for it with a light funk presence. I slightly prefer the cleaner and more refreshing non-brett version. But the brett version is still pretty good and maybe with some time on it the brett would work its magic. I think the yearly Mondial special nights at Cheval Blanc are good for me. Every year I go to their special night and the day after my brain hurts. That means it’s growing, right?
