collieman (192), montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 20, 2005 Lovley. It’s not a scotch ale, it’s a scotish style ale, ie remenicent of the beer the actualy drink in scotland, and I gota say, I’m shure all will agree that this one clearly had youngers tartan special as the inspiration. Pours a crystal clear rusty coper with a thin whispy white head, and a fizzy carb level. Palat is fizzy and dry, very refreshing. Taste is overall light and simple. Toasty malt makes a dominatny aperance for just a second, quickly folowed by a significant yet not nearly overpowering hit from some bitter hops, folowed by a nutty smoothness. The aftertaste is lightly bitter, very very dry, and lingers for about 2 mins. I like it alot, but I’m shure it will be gone soon. Look at other ratings for this brewpub, rarely more than 2 or 3 before the beer is gone. Get it while it lasts, it’s great. Cheers.
beerbuzzmontreal (2769), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 22, 2008 Strong aroma of peated malt and caramel. Pours a murky brown color with a thin white head. The flavor has luscious smoked and caramel malt, but there’s also an unpleasant feeling that ruins the tasting experience partly. The body is medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 20, 2005 Hazy pale amber body displays a tiny white ring bearing small lacing. Soft malts procure a well presented leatheryness coming out powdery and expertly earthy. While apple skin nuances attenuate the potential malt sweetness, a developing underlying dryish character kicks in to enhance drinkability greatly. Biting small bubbles, light-medium body. A very pleasant take in which balance is key. (Rating #355) CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Nov 20, 2005 (Draught) Pint for $5 at the brewpub on November 20, 2005. Pours a thin, white lasting head with a reddish caramel body. Little carbonation. Nose and flavour is mildly smoked and earthy. Lacking the robust flavours of the Erable and California which were also available - leaving me wanting more depth.
