Verre de dégustation sur place. Surprenante bière brune trouble avec peu de mousse. Le nez est discret et le chocolat est bien présent (surprenant, 2 fois dans le même texte). La bouche est ronde et chocolatée. Le gaz carbonique est bien présent. Millésime 2012 serait-il moins bon que les années précédentes ?

My Bottom Line:
Spicy rye flavors merge into herbal hops, as light caramel slowly washes over this silky Rye Amber Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam laces atop the cloudy amber.
-The flavor profile is harmonious, balanced, not too tame, not too intense.
-The spicy hop bitterness lingers nicely.
-The residual sugars produce a velvety feel; this could be drier for my tastes in quaffers, but this is still nicely drinkable.

This is a nice cloudy orange with a white short thick head. Fruity and peachy aromas and tastes. Better beer when they don’t rush it, good!

Le liquide est doré et voilé. Présence d’un anneau de mousse avec une dentelle. Les arômes qui proviennent des houblons me font penser à un mélange d’agrumes sucrés. Présence en arrière-plan du seigle (est-ce ce léger parfum épicé?) avec des notes de malt grillé. Au goût, principalement les mêmes caractéristiques avec une belle attaque de l’amertume qui cherche à persister. En bouche, par contre, un peu trop mince de corps et de texture. La finale est bonne avec des notes amères et franches provenant des houblons.

A hazy golden ale with a thick creamy white head. A pleasant and fragrant spiced malt aroma, light citrus, perfumey. In mouth, a nice herbaceous and hoppy ale, with a bit of incense notes. Nice and refreshing. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub August 3 2009.

Verre à la brasserie. Arômes de houblon résineux et floral. Robe ambrée et assez claire, fine dentelle. Les céréales sont très présentes et se marient bien au houblon légèrement résineux (centennial?) et floral. Finale plutôt amère. Intéressant en raison de la présence marquée du seigle.

Tap at the Brewpub: Pours a hazy golden with a strong/small off white head. A grainy rye sweetness meshes with some light American hops in the aroma. Light-to-medium bodied-softly carbonated. The grains are at the fore-flavor, offering some husky rye chewiness and is followed by some resiny hop oily character. A solid profile. Good to session.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Good aroma of rye with citrusy, piney hops. Good flavor of rye with citrusy, piney hops and a bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation.

Enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub. 48 IBU. Amber with lace and a small head. Like a mild IPA, a good bitterness and tasty drinkable. Grapefruit in aroma.

[520-20070811] Tap @ Cheval Blanc (Montréal, QC). Wheat aroma with muted sweet fruit and a hint of nutmeg or other spice. Clear, pale yellow orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Mostly muted wheat flavour with a strange background leafy bitterness. Light-medium body. Fairly uninteresting.
