Glass at the brewpub. 18DE10.

App.: Clear, fairly deep golden with a so-so white head. Aroma: Nice green, grassy, peppery hops, decent biscuit malts, straight forward and well-made. Palate: Medium body, lively effervescence, not as smooth as it could be. Flav.: Lots of resinous, dank hops, some pine, soap, woodsiness, enough biscuit malt and cereal to balance; dry with nice bitterness and a green hoppy finish.

Pěkný. Google tells me that’s Czech for Nice.

On tap at the brewpub. Light gold pour, thin white head that quickly disappears. Aroma is well hopped but also quite grainy; smells almost of oatmeal. Taste is light, slightly grainy with a good hop bite - slightly spicy. A good pilsener.

Clear golden topped by a generous and lasting white head. Lovely spicy and herbal hop aromas, medium body, rich, round, good bitterness, perfect carbonation, lingering noble hops finish. Very classy pils. Highly satisfying. Great work.

Excellent beer! Amazing malty aroma, really nice, just smells great. Flavour is again wonderful, lots of malt, and some nice hops, just a great beer for the style!

New 2008 batch Cloudy, almost opaque golden shade topped by a large and mostly lasting white and frothy foam. Fresh, hay-like, grassy and cerealic lager. The residual yeastiness goes over the timid malts to ensure a firm, rather heavy palate for the style. Round, yet rather crisp, coherent carbonation. Generously hopped, cleansing bitterness that eats any trace of sweetness up. Dry and refreshing palate. Timid CO2 acidity. A most pleasant pint that drinks deceptively easily. This is my favourite pilsner batch I’ve had at Le Cheval Blanc.

In short: A generously hopped Pilsner. Dry, grassy and very bitter. Very good.
How: Tap at brewpub. Batched put on tap January 2008 at 5.25%.
The look: Almost clear golden-blonde body with a small white head leaving good lacing
In long: Nose is very grassy and a little musty. I can feel that the beer has its fair share of malt but the malt doesn’t play much in the overall taste. As soon as the beer enter the mouth the dry grassy hops take over. No sweetness detectable at all. Strong dry and grassy bitterness. Carbonation could have been a bit more relaxed. Unbalanced? Maybe, I don’t care. In my hands that pint lasted about as long as a South Park episode edited for political correctness.

Bu sur place, 12 oz. Blonde typique, moyen collet.
