collieman (192), montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 13, 2005 the bar tender and I agreed this is not realy a pilsner, but it is close. Spicy aroma with a little sweet grass come from this blond as blond lager, with a fairly high carbonation and a fuzzy long lasting head, and some serious laceings. Taste is crisp, a bitterness from chinook and cascade hops , balanced perfectly with a very grassy malt sweetness, with some spicey undertones, along with a pinneyness and a wheaty finish. Aftertaste is mostly dry and a little floral. All in all I’m a little suprised in this one, I expect saaz, but it’s not in there. Very dry and refreshing, I would recomed this to the bud drinkers of the world. Cheers
robinvboyer (1071), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada May 31, 2008 Excellent beer! Amazing malty aroma, really nice, just smells great. Flavour is again wonderful, lots of malt, and some nice hops, just a great beer for the style! Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jan 31, 2008 New 2008 batch Cloudy, almost opaque golden shade topped by a large and mostly lasting white and frothy foam. Fresh, hay-like, grassy and cerealic lager. The residual yeastiness goes over the timid malts to ensure a firm, rather heavy palate for the style. Round, yet rather crisp, coherent carbonation. Generously hopped, cleansing bitterness that eats any trace of sweetness up. Dry and refreshing palate. Timid CO2 acidity. A most pleasant pint that drinks deceptively easily. This is my favourite pilsner batch I’ve had at Le Cheval Blanc. Glouglouburp (2113), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 30, 2008 In short: A generously hopped Pilsner. Dry, grassy and very bitter. Very good.
How: Tap at brewpub. Batched put on tap January 2008 at 5.25%.
The look: Almost clear golden-blonde body with a small white head leaving good lacing
In long: Nose is very grassy and a little musty. I can feel that the beer has its fair share of malt but the malt doesn’t play much in the overall taste. As soon as the beer enter the mouth the dry grassy hops take over. No sweetness detectable at all. Strong dry and grassy bitterness. Carbonation could have been a bit more relaxed. Unbalanced? Maybe, I don’t care. In my hands that pint lasted about as long as a South Park episode edited for political correctness. Quevillon (1339), Sainte-Thérčse, Quebec, Canada Jun 29, 2006 Bu sur place, 12 oz. Blonde typique, moyen collet. Bon arome de malte sucré avec un peu de petit fruit. Goűt de malte simple mais plaisant. rederic (1513), montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 23, 2006 Golden color, with a frothy white head, floral hops, with a piney accent, pale malt, with a cedary aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp floral hops, and a coniferous character, pale malt, hint of citrus fruitiness, leading towards a dry, piney hops bittering finish.
