(Rating #3110)

In short: A very smooth leafy bisuity session ESB-ish beer
How: Cask at brewpub
The look: Almost clear blonde-golden body topped by medium white head
In long: Soft nose of leafy and slightly citrusy hops. Body has lightly toasted biscuity cereals reminding me of plain cookies such as Goglu or Social Tea. Then comes the smooth hopping. Dry tree leafs, dry tobacco leafs, light bitter grapefruits notes, light lemony citric notes. Mild bitterness. Overall very smooth, everything it round and smooth about this beer. I read that Summit is a strong bittering hop but that sure doesn’t show in this beer. Mouthfeel was foamy with plenty of big soft bubbles. I’m not sure if it is because of the conditioning (it was on cask when I had it) but to me this beer tasted like a an English ESB. A bit too simple and soft to give it high marks but still a easy drinking beer, at least when cask conditioned. A decent beer from Cheval Blanc, a brewpub that is only a few blocks away from my place. I love going to Cheval Blanc with my brother and talk about nothing and everything, because sometimes the best things in life are free, like taking sips from his pints when he goes to the bathroom.

Draught, 5% at the brewpub. Mild piney hop aroma. Hazy light amber colour. Very small white head. The flavour is piney and slightly caramelly. OK bitterness. Like most other APAs.

Citrus hop aroma with a with a light roasted malt aroma. Cloudy dark golden color with a small white head. Bitter beginning that fades in the finish.
