3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Glouglouburp (4784) - Montreal, - SEP 8, 2011
In short: A rough brett amber ale. An acquired taste
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy dark amber topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is “dirty” brett mixing funk and old basement. Taste is very bretty, lots of rough leathery funk, red fruits, grapefruits, quite a bit of spiciness. A big bite in the finish that resembles bitterness. I didn’t recognize the regular Triple at all in this beer. This is a beer for those who like their funky beers on the rough side. I loved it, my favorite of the many brett beers that Cheval Blanc had during that special funk night. Also this beer mixes well with the medication I take to reduce my stress level and increase my mood. The medication is beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rodenbach99 (1935) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 1, 2012
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beastiefan2k (1921) - Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA - JUL 14, 2011
large tulip pour at the brewpub. This was not much of a tripel and it had no brett to speak of but it was a good beer. Dark amber - dark copper color, clear out of the tap. The beer was well attenuated, not syruppy with well maintained esters. Just nicely compact, nothing off, no flaws, with Belgian yeast and Belgian yeastiness. Seems it was too young for the Brett to emerge. 7/4/7/4/16
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lubiere (7003) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 26, 2011
A hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a smooth funky Brett with peaty scotch notes, orange peels. In mouth, a smooth sweet malt with coriander, Brett, curacao, warming alchol. very nice and complex. On tap at Mondial 2011, June 11 2011.
