On tap at La Cheval Blanc. Pours a ruby brown with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, stone fruit, and alcohol. Thin to medium bodied, with flavors of dark fruit, malt, and a lot of alcohol. Finishes with more fruity notes, a touch of yeast, and even more alcohol. This is unbelievably hot still and was essentially undrinkable. Lots of potential on here I think, and if it was bottled I’d certainly hold onto a couple for a few years, but as it currently stands, it’s too boozy to be worth bothering with.
Strong and appealing aroma of cloves, coriander and belgian yeast. Very good flavor of belgian yeast, coriander, cloves, candied fruits and herbs with a sweet finish. The body is light with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. Eloi, the brewer, works magic with spices and this tripel is another fine example. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA Jan 31, 2007 Amber pour with no head. Banana, spicy, ethanol. Very hot, some caramel type sweetness. Strong banana, strong ethanol presence. Decent mouthfeel otherwise. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2006 Draught. Foggy golden-yellow with a small white ring. The aroma is rather nice - sweet pear, apple, banana, and mineral underneath. The alcohol is well masked throughout but contributes a nice warming character. Lots of fruit stickiness - pear dust, plum, and yeast. Tasty but taken in small doses.
Best of show for me at Le Cheval Blanc on Sep15/2006 DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Sep 26, 2006 Very spicey nose, oranges, apricots and yeast, deep amber, almost no head. Flavour has lots of candied malt, citrus, and some spices. Medium bodied, nice tongue tingle, really fine example. Radek Kliber (3932), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Sep 18, 2006 Gold, medium dark, light amber with fine head on top. Neat citric aroma, fruity nose, light sweetnes below. Medium bodied with full character and decent depth. Clean bitterness at finish. Medium of palate could be more complex. Pleasant strong ale with alcohol neatly tucked in. Nekronos (2261), Xalapa, Mexico Sep 18, 2006 VEyr strong, too orange in colour. It has a good foam and veyr nice aftertaste.
