3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4784) - Montreal, - MAY 8, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2006 Simply called “Triple” at the pub. Hope I’m rating the right beer. Partly cloudy yellow-golden body topped by a medium white head. Pleasant yeast character. A bit fruity. No spices noticeable (a bit of a letdown for me). Alcohol presence is just what it should be for an 9%. A solid but slightly below average Tripel that doesn’t make a lasting impression, if I hadn’t written my notes immediately after drinking it I would have forgotten I ever had it.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 j12601 (4452) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - APR 11, 2009
On tap at La Cheval Blanc. Pours a ruby brown with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, stone fruit, and alcohol. Thin to medium bodied, with flavors of dark fruit, malt, and a lot of alcohol. Finishes with more fruity notes, a touch of yeast, and even more alcohol. This is unbelievably hot still and was essentially undrinkable. Lots of potential on here I think, and if it was bottled I’d certainly hold onto a couple for a few years, but as it currently stands, it’s too boozy to be worth bothering with.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3429) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 2, 2007
Pours a cloudy dark gold with a thin offwhite head. Strong and appealing aroma of cloves, coriander and belgian yeast. Very good flavor of belgian yeast, coriander, cloves, candied fruits and herbs with a sweet finish. The body is light with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. Eloi, the brewer, works magic with spices and this tripel is another fine example.

Amber pour with no head. Banana, spicy, ethanol. Very hot, some caramel type sweetness. Strong banana, strong ethanol presence. Decent mouthfeel otherwise.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mds (2119) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 30, 2006
Draught. Foggy golden-yellow with a small white ring. The aroma is rather nice - sweet pear, apple, banana, and mineral underneath. The alcohol is well masked throughout but contributes a nice warming character. Lots of fruit stickiness - pear dust, plum, and yeast. Tasty but taken in small doses.
Best of show for me at Le Cheval Blanc on Sep15/2006

Very spicey nose, oranges, apricots and yeast, deep amber, almost no head. Flavour has lots of candied malt, citrus, and some spices. Medium bodied, nice tongue tingle, really fine example.

Gold, medium dark, light amber with fine head on top. Neat citric aroma, fruity nose, light sweetnes below. Medium bodied with full character and decent depth. Clean bitterness at finish. Medium of palate could be more complex. Pleasant strong ale with alcohol neatly tucked in.

Bu sur place (14 oz). Couleur dorée un peu claire, peu de collet. Arome de malte d’grume, avec u parfun de tangerine. Goût de malte riche et assé présant, petit goût d’épice et d’alcool, très savoureuse.

Hazy amber hue, with a small beige head, yeasty ripe apples nose, with a toffeeish accent, caramelized malt, hint of cinnamon spiciness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty sweet caramelized ripe apples character, with some cinnamon, nutmeg spiciness, toasted and caramel malts , dry sultana raisins, fruitiness, brown sugar, with an alcoholic note from his 9.5%, leading towards a faint floral hops, and a sweet malty alcoholic warmth finish.
