A smallish white foam rests atop the almost blakc pour. Soft, anisey offering in the nose translates into a sweeter than most porter in mouth where the roastiness is subtle indeed. Soft bodied and not too effervescent. Very short finish. Really mild all throughout and the general flatness and generic dark cereal flavours make it a bit dead in its flavours evolution. To me, there were many better alternatives among the other 9 taps.

A dark porter with a thin lacing light moka head. A lightly peated chocolate, malt aroma, with light acidity, a bit meaty (autolyzed yeast?). In mouth, a lightly sweet porter with coffee notes, burned caramel, creamy, very nice. Light metallic notes in finale. Tasted at brewpub, August 2 2008.

En fût. Verre de dégustation directement à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur de chocolat avec une pointe de petits fruits foncés. Apparence: La couleur est noire opaque. Présence d’un moyen col beige crémeux et d’une large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de chocolat avec une pointe de café au lait. Longue durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement crémeuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Présence de chocolat légèrement amer en arrière goût. (Rating #1905)

17/06/08 Fût Froide Rating#19Brune aux reflets rubis, col mince: leger anneau. Arômes de café, cacao et de grains grillés. Corps mince, effervescence nulle. Saveurs de grains grillés et de café froid. Légèrement aqueuse et manque de corps.

Servi à l’azote. L’arôme laisse présager des arômes de baies et de café/cacao. Au goût, c’est une belle balance chocolat/cacao en entrée. Par la suite, un goût de café s’ajoute et donne une belle complexité de torréfié au tout. Bien balancé. Peu d’amertume. Excellent porter, une bière de grande soif!

My Bottom Line:
This Porter offers lots of roasted malt flavors and bitterness in a comfortable body softened by nitrogen, as fitting coffee allusions frequently surface.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A decadent head of nitroed foam laces all around the pitch darkness.
-The maltiness is a tad powdery on the palate. It could be cleaner.
-A light blackberry fruity infusion is perceived every sip or so.
-The finishing bitterness is pleasant.
-The first batch of this was an obvious misfire, but now at their third batch, I can say ample improvements were made and this is becoming as solid as the rest of their lineup. Next batch should be even more efficient according the brewer.

Bière de style porter. Déguster sur place à la microbrasserie. Légère note de café en début, bière très claire, texture faible. Le goût est intéressant au début de la gorgée, mais absence de saveur en finale. Première brassée de la micorbrasserie qui s’améliora :)
