Can 500ml. Pours very dark mahogany/brown with low beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate, smoke. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, slight acidity, bitterness, some sugar. Palate: Medium body. Low-medium carbonation. Decent balance. Overall: Not bad. Straight-forward but interesting roast features.

In short: A grainy, toasted and nutty brown ale with a timid personality and a good drinkability.
How: Tap at brewpub.
The look: Mahogany body topped by a persistent small beige head.
In long: Nose is nutty (roasted almonds) with notes of earthy tree bark. Taste is grainy cereals, husky sensation, toasted whole-wheat bread, peanut shells, almonds, light notes of tart red fruits (raspberry-ish), dried tobacco. Body is a bit fluffy/foamy. Finish is grainy and roasted. Tastes like a Brown Ale or maybe a nutty Altbier. A low intensity beer that is easy to drink but also a bit boring. I am allowed to complain that Corsaire beers are boring or that the Corsaire pub is boring because I know what boring is, I’m an expert in boringness, every time I receive a call from a telemarketer after a few minutes the telemarketer hangs up on me.

473 ml can from St. Nicholas Metro. Pours a clear dark brown with modest-sized light tan head. Aroma is roasty chocolate, nuts, grains and hints of fruit. Flavour is moderately roasty chocolate, nuttiness, bit of a lactic note, graininess with light fruitiness. Lightly carbonated. Nice.

Cheers!

473 ml can. Pours an orangeish black with a nice beige head. Smells like roast and fruit. Taste is sweet, malty, somewhat fruity (dark, red fruits). Light unripe fruit bitterness. Light bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Good dark ale.

473ml can. This is the first beer I had from Le Corsaire and the best one. Fortunately, because if I had started by the Bristol (see my review), I would’ve stopped right there...

Aroma has roasted tones, and a bit of sweet caramel with cereal. Color is dark brown, carbonation relatively low with a tad more than minimal head. Slightly sweet taste with a medium bitter finish. An OK beer, nothing special to write about. If given the choice, I would choose this over a can of the Labatt-brewed Guiness we have here in Québec.

[3873-20110808] Tap. Chocolate syrup cream aroma has a hint of roast to it. Slightly hazy, dark mahogany body with a long-lasting foamy light tan head. Roasted plum chocolate syrup flavour. Medium-full body. Good balance, would be a good finish to a meal. (7/3/7+/4/14) 3.5+

Aroma: creamy , roast malts with slight lactic stout like quality. Fruity hop end. 6+
Appearance: dark brown with dark beige creamy head. Sparse lace.3+
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: medium light boded. Deep dry black almost metallic with dark chocolate in character. Hint of ash with touch of smoke to it. Low carbonation. Well rounded dry blac sided finish. Best offering of Corsaire I had so far.

2011-08-08. Ruby brown, good sized beige head. Flavour is malty, dry roasty notes, sweet caramel accents, a sweet roast profile lingers in the finish. 6+ Sweet malty aroma, toasty roasty accents. 6+ Very smooth average to light bodied palate suits the beer. I don’t love it but it is a very nice mild, and perhaps their most interesting beer today. On tap at the brewpub, Levis

On tap at the brewpub. Ironic is the fact that the heaviest, tastiest beer I had all night was served to me as a "mild" ale. Anyhow, at 5%, I don’t think it qualifies so I’ll just keep rating it as a regular brown ale. Dark brown beer with off white head. Aroma of scotch (peat, smoke), lots of rich chocolate, roast malt. Palate is smooth, very smooth, well carbonated with a slight bitter finish. Good stuff, quite tasty.
