On tap at the brewpub. Nice gold pour with white head. Aroma is hoppy, kind of spicy hoppiness, black pepper, a bit of spruce. Taste has that sprucey bitterness, some caramel also present. The mix of hops is very nice - not particularly golding forward like a lot of bitters. Well carbonated, good finish. This is a superb session ale IMO, flavorful for the ABV. I could drink it all night.

Can - 473ml. Hazy amber body with a thick, diminishing off-white frothy head. Its fresh, well balanced malty/hoppy aroma is rather thin. It carries some grassy and flowery hints. Decent hoppy taste with woody notes. Ends with a good bitter finish. Not bad at all.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2011 473mL can from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a hazy, muddy copper with a massive beige head. Aroma has some candy sugar, faint British malts, some yeast and not much else. Flavour has all the above, with some decent residual hop flavour. The highly active effervescence makes it somewhat harder to drink than something I would expect at 3.8% abv, but it’s not awful. I probably wouldn’t get this again, but it was at least somewhat enjoyable.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2012 Cannette 473 ml. 3.8%.

On tap at brewpub. Pours golden amber in colour, with nice white head. Aroma and taste are nicely balanced caramel malts and english style hops. Nicely hopped.

pours dark golden-copper with a large white head, good retention. lively carbonation. caramel malts and fresh leafy hops - citrusy and slightly herbal (very nice profile). very quenching session ale. too aggressive carbonation, but overall it is a very good session ale. would drink everyday as a first beer.

Sample drank at "La Soirée des Brasseurs 2010" in Shawinigan, on August 13. Creamy Honey blonde, small head. Aroma of raw malted barley, vegetable hop notes. Taste of Hops very thin, but very bitter, no aftertaste. It’s extra bitter all right, but I would love some extra taste to!

My Bottom Line:
This 3% Bitter offers lots of citrusy and leafy hop flavors and bitterness in a quenching mouthfeel fit for long sessions.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy light amber.
-This beer’s main downfall, imho, is its distinct lack of malt definition. Some refinement at that level would make this a stellar session brew.
-The potent hop bitterness is also herbal.
-Carbonation is soft and the mouthfeel never thin.
-I’d really love to try this on cask!

On tap at the brewpub.

(Rating #2609)
