Sample tray. Gold. Light scent. Subdued, not strong hops but the flavour does pick up through the glass and linger on the tongue after the liquid is gone.

Over-Carbonated at sight, lots of bubbles making it looks like Canada dry Ginger Ale....Nothing interresting for both your eyes and your nose. But this beer is better than what the ratings showcase. Typical malty-biscuity, slight hints of caramel. Very refreshing taste, everything a nice summer pilsner should be. Bravo Le Corsaire, you actually did a very well balanced "on target" beer.

Pain aluminum can, with an awesome pirate sticker on the front. Noramally I’d say that this doesn’t bode well, but fuck that, look at that pirate sticker! Fuck yeah pirate! Anyway, thanks to Cole for the share. Pours slightly hazy yellow, thin white head, spotty lacing. Nose is slightly sulphurous, Kolsch-esque, sust, lemon, spice, slight hints of florals. Flavor is clean, dry, mineral, pears & stonefruits. Exceptionally clean, and oddly pleasant. I feel a bit guilty liking this so well, but I genuinely enjoy this one.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Honeyed pilsner malts envelop the Saaz hoppiness which contributes its herbaceous goodness throughout each sip of this sweetish Pils.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the clear dark golden.
-Style freaks will say the final gravity on this was a tad too high; the body is too round and a bit too sweet.
-Carbonation is quite soft for the style.
-This remains a cleanly-brewed quencher throughout and should provide a nice re-introduction to the style to those who think a Pils is a Labatt Blue.
-The can has pretty much the same sweetish flavor profile.

On tap at the brewpub and from the can.

Canette 473ml.

[3867-20110808] Tap. Bready yeast aroma. Clear, bright yellow body with a quick foamy white head. More apple bitter bread yeast in the flavour. Medium body. Average. (6/3/6/3/12) 3.0

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2009 3,99$ for a 473ml can at Peluso. Pretty good "take-out-to-your-home" Québec pilsner. Everything in there is in subtilities, the aroma, the cerealish light maltiness, the citrusy twist, the herbal grassy hopping. Very drinkable and enjoyable; warm day stuff but I could drink that on a regular basis. I disagree with Fred82’s rating; there are not a lot of pilsners bottled in Québec. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Belle Gueule brews a boring one, don’t tell me about Labatt Blue, and le Maitre-Brasseur and Bièropholie don’t brew theirs anymore (or it seems so)... What I am getting to is that this might be the best Québec pilsner I can bring home! Of course, until Elixir Céleste and Cerna Hora are bottled... Still, bravo, Le Corsaire! ADDED: two recent cans had a sour-thing, pretty displeasing, that either I hadn’t notice at first or those beers got infected somehow. Another bad can and the score will drop, pretty much.

2011-08-08. Crisp bright yellow body with a small white head. 3+ Floral almost cidery aroma, light grass touches. 5+ Average to light bodied palate. Modest bitterness throughout, grassy hops and buttercup florals in the finish. Okay. Not entirely to my own tastes. On tap at the brewpub, Levis

Can - 473ml. Pale blond body with average carbonation and a diminishing white bubbly head. Fresh hoppy aroma with malty and grassy hints. Its malty/hoppy taste carries piney notes and ends with a decent bitter/herbal finish. Not bad.

(Rating #1903)
