Brown bottle, 341 ml, purchased on August 7 2007 at Le Grand Duc, "savoured" on August 26 2007; eye: copper, clear, slight effervescence, tiny ring of beige head around the glass, slight lacing; nose: infected; mouth: infected; overall: that is what happened when you purchase a beer and do not look at whom brewed it (otherwise, I would not have done so)

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 GarnotingPete (357) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 26, 2011
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 rwgould (216) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 28, 2011
Appearance: Transparent brown. Small, frothy head that dissipated quickly.
Aroma: Weirdest beer I’ve ever smelt. Very hard to describe - notes of berries, perfume, mold, fake banana-flavouring, syrup. It’s different, but not pleasant.
Palate: thin-to-medium bodied, slightly dry finish.
Taste: fairly sweet, and also fairly sour, which was unexpected.
I’m not sure to think of this beer. After a few mouthfuls, I feel it’s lacking. I don’t find it as bad as others seem to, but I won’t buy it again.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 thorongil2 (502) - , Ontario, CANADA - JUN 4, 2011
(bottle) clear dark reddish brown colour, small tan head; aroma of sweet fruit, bubblegum; clean, malty simple flavour
1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 Johnsense (283) - - MAR 19, 2011
The bottle is as ugly as sin. As for the beer inside? Pours a deep brown , not too bad looking actually. Small cap with a bit of lacing. Smell - Hard to describe here - faint hit of caramel, cocoa and wet grass. Taste is nothing but malt - cheap sour malt at that. little carbonation, not worth finishing the glass.
1.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 2/20 UM02 (213) - Quebec, CANADA - NOV 27, 2010
One of the worst beers I have drank. I was expecting a typical Quebec rousse and it certainly looks the part. The first clue that it is not is the aroma that can be best described as the smell of a room when some drunk people have puked. The taste is not much better, many reviewers describe it as sour and it is but it has an extra taste that is very difficult to describe but is very unpleasnat. Hard to drink a full bottle of this. The only good thing about this beer is the picture and story on the bottle. To be fair it does state that the Grimoire is "different, astonishing, should not be feared even if others fear him and that his aroma is unique" so maybe they were trying to brew something like this. I am not shamed to admit that I fear the Grimousse though!
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Tricker (123) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 8, 2010
Bière rousse de 5 % d’alcool. Excellente, rafraîchissante. Petit goût d’agrume, mais sans trop. Aucun arrière goût. Léger col au versement. De caramel comme les critiques ? Non je ne trouve pas. Très bonne bière !
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 sseb69 (896) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 3, 2010
Bouteille 341 ml. 5%.

Dark brown pour, no head. Bready malts, sour malts, metal. Dull, very very dull. Bad beer.

Bottle from Le Marche Jovi- Cloudy deep copper, pours a frothy beige cap. Malty nose is fruity and somewhat grainy, with earthy bready notes. Tastes of sweet dark bread, molasses, very grainy, almost yeasty. Medium body finishes sweet.
