Bottle. Is this supposed to be sour?? Tart, sour, some funk, bandaid, orange, grapefruit driven fruitiness. Earthy musty aromas & flavor. wierd

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop notes of roasted, caramel and cooked orange, light dough for the yeast, with date, over-ripe pear, brown sugar and red pepper in the background. Head is average size, frothy, beige with some slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky, medium red/brown. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a lively carbonation. Not sure why all the bad press with this beer. This is a nice, full bodied Belgian Strong Ale that hide 9% really well.

from Mondial de la Bière 2011, Strasbourg - hazy brown beer with a poor head retention; malty aroma of marzipan and caramel; some sweetness, medium- to full-bodied; quite dry with lingering notes of caramel - styleless and characterless

Nice amber body and a modest bit of beige head, but the aroma is quite lacking - in fact it smells like almost nothing at all. For a nine percenter, though, this is probably a good thing. The flavour is sour grass and leather with a weak enough mouthfeel to make it feel balanced. Lots of orange and cherry notes. For such a strong beer it’s incredibly drinkable, but that doesn’t make it amazing, but just good.

Bouteille 500 ml. 9%. Couleur ambrée assez claire. Mousse blanche-beige.

500 mL bottle. Slightly hazy rust colour with absolutely no head at any point during the pour. Malty aroma with a little bit of Belgian yeast and booze. Not bad. The flavour isn’t quite right, though. Particularly at the end. No flavours stand out; there’s just this kinda spoiled fruit thing. And stale malt. Or something. Tastes Belgian, and the alcohol is well hidden, but that’s not enough. There are better examples of the style available out there.

Bottle, thanks Swoopjones! Orange, light tan head. Nose is citrus & sour grapefruit, some honey. Flavor is grapefruit, more bitterness than expected & some malt. Odd.

Cloudy brown color beneath a small white head. Fruity aroma with notes of white grapes and pineapple. Tart flavors of grapefruit juice, apricots and some tropical fruit notes. Dries out in the finish. Lacks the acidity to make it a nice sour (which I am assuming it is intended to be). Thanks swoopjones for sharing this bottle.
