muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jun 9, 2005 Sampled draught at the Mondiale. I had no hopes for this beer after the three mediocre samples I had at the pub a short while after it opened, but...that’s what the Mondiale is for, isn’t it? Deep orange, quite opaque with lots of lace and a lasting creamy head...pungent, heady and sour aroma, like some illegal plants that do strange things to your mind...later, spoiled potatos for fun...full, sour and spicy body with a hint of sweetness at the front , wet piney hops midpalate and a dry, mouthcoating longish finish...well done, these guys have improved. MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 3, 2005 The Lure: Wooden hops float atop the yeast-laden oranges. A superb, lingering head bobs over the severely unfiltered garment. Earthy yeast and frank hops seem to bridge the gap between America and Belgium.
The Festivities: Belgian-like yeastiness announces its presence at the first sip. Either that or this plentiful yeast, combined with the agressive carbonation, makes it feel quite Belgian. Oranges and a wooden personality combine in the English/American hoppiness (Cs and Goldings?), producing a sticky hoppy and yeasty bitterness which endures the trip down the gullet and then some. Different, interesting and again a wonderful improvement from these newbies in the Quebec brewing scene.
Transcendence: Discovering a distinctly artisanal food stand on the side of the road, and liking their unique stylings. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 13, 2005 Herbal, perfumey, floral hop aroma offers suggestions of oranges and white pepper. Opaque orange-tan coloured body is topped by a rocky white head that recedes to lasting cover with some lace. Moderately hoppy flavour is resinous with fruity undertones. Fair bitterness. Medium-light body with strong carbonation. A vast improvement for this young brew-pub! Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005. heemer77 (3786), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 5, 2006 Sampled at Mondial 2006. The aroma was grapefeuit with some caramel. Poured with a medium orange colored body. The taste was definite toffee with grapefruit. There was not much else ot say, borin but not bad. A little much on the carbonation. Radek Kliber (3339), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 9, 2005 Average crown but at least long lasting . Copper/ amber pale ale like most of them . Rather sweet for this style, sure it’s hoppy but malts are more exposed that usual. Drinkable , bitter ale . More like continental pale ale not N . American in style.
