Looked like black coffee with a topping of froth. My first impression of the taste was that they had burned the beer. The taste gets better as you drink more. Very strong aftertaste. The body is a deep black and the taste is bitter. Not too bad overall, but not too good either.

A: High chocolate aroma with notes of vanilla, oak and cookies. V: Jet black with ligh foam that does not persist F: Intense chocolate flavor with vanilla, it tasted the same as if I put quick in a porter. Light oak in aftertaste. M: High carbonation with medium body. O: Interesting mixture, but it lacks body and besides the quick flavor, this beers seems to lack basis. Good to try once, but maybe not more.

According to some reviewers this brewery’s beers taste decent on tap but not in the bottle. I have never had them on tap but the two beers I have tried from this brewery in a bottle have both been absolutely terrible. I am not sure if they are going bad or there is some other problem in the bottling process but if they can not produce a better bottled product than this they should not be selling it. Whereas other stouts have chocolate and cocoa flavours this tastes like medicine. Very sour, just a drainpour.

Appearance: would’ve liked the stout to be creamier. Taste: great cocoa taste, but it’s too bitter when you drink more than a few sips Aroma: great cocoa smell! Palate: too bitter

Pours an opaque brown-black with a beige head that dissipated quickly. No visible carbonation. Aroma: Very, very chocolatey. Hints of coffee, caramel, roasted nuts. Very very sweet. Reminds me of a mocha. Taste: Sour sour sour. Wow. Given the aroma I was expecting something sweet - this is sour like a lambic. Wow. It’s very sweet too, but sour - just wow. Wasn’t expecting that. Not bitter at all, and quite savoury. Palate: smooth, medium bodied, but way thinner than expected. Not very complex, but pretty good. The sourness seems really out of place, but I love it.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2011 pours dark brown, almost black, with a small dark beige head, somewhat an ok-retention. lots of coffee and roasted notes in the nose. taste is oddly very sour (defect?) with loads of bitter chocolate, medium grassy hopping. medium body, average carbonation. re-rate 23/08/11: was indeed a defect. it is in fact quite good. loads of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, nice palate and nice head. drank on tap.

Deep black pour with a tight brown head. The aroma is quite tart. Lots of roasted malt and a bit of soft vineousness. Flavour is crazy sour - intense lactic sourness and an intense citrusy sourness. Sour and lemony. This tastes like shit.

(bottle) very dark brown with small tan head; aroma of soy sauce, sour flavour, watery palate; not bad but it is not a sweet stout
