3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lubiere (7002) - Ottawa, - SEP 18, 2011
A superb orange amber ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, classic pinhey hops, clover, floral, over biscuitty malt. In mouth, a nice biscuitty malt with restrained floral grassy hops, very smooth and pleasing. On tap at Bieres et Saveurs, Sept.3 2011.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 15, 2011
In short: A crisp and bright, full body and refreshing citrusy/grassy/piney IPA. Very good
How: Tap at Chambly Beer Festival 2011
The look: Partly cloudy amber body topped by a medium beige head with good retention
In long: Nose is very hoppy with citrus fruits (oranges, some grapefruits), dry grass, pine tree notes and some pineapples. Rarely do I smell an Quebec IPA with such a bright and vibrant nose, most Quebec IPAs tend to be malty and more discreet or resinous on the aroma. We’re finally catching up!!! Full body with plenty of toasted biscuity malts that are crisp and not too sweet. Nice refreshing bitterness of medium intensity with all the elements I have listed in the aroma. A pleasant nice surprise, this is one of the Quebec IPA that I could mistake for an IPA of a major west-coast brewery. It is very surprising that two eastern Quebec breweries collaborated together and it resulted in the creation of this west-coast style IPA but not as surprising as if it had resulted in the creation of a new line of woman lingerie. For instance.
