COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La CORTE-REAL, de couleur blond doré, possède un arôme floral. Toute en équilibre, cette bière bien assise sur une base de malt, laisse ressortir, tout au long de la dégustation, les différents goûts que le houblon Centennial peut apporter à une bière.

A golden ale with a thin white head. A pleasant hoppy aroma, caramel malt, with light funky notes. In mouth, a good hoppy pale ale with restrained c-hops, melding nicely with the malts. Well balanced. On tap at Brouhaha, March 28 2009.

from Mondial de la Bière 2011, Strasbourg - hazy dark amber-blond under a persistent beige foam; nice lace; a robust hoppy aroma with notes of flowers and honey; quite full-bodied and rounded palate; moderate carbonation; very tasty and fairly bitter; long flowery and dry almondy finish

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Spicy, grassy hop leaves thrive throughout honeyed caramel maltiness, as tropical fruit decide to accompany a resinous hop bitterness till the very end. This is a beautifully balanced hybrid of a Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam dissipates into the clear light amber, drawing quite a bit of lacing.
-I was told this was hopped entirely with Centennial, but I admit the leafy character threw me off completely. It did not feel as bright and resinous as the usual Centennial bombs I’ve tasted.
-I admit the fruitiness is orange-like at times.
-The nose could be more aromatic.
-The body is chewy and possesses a slightly higher level of residual sugars than the usual Pale Ale. With the pillowy effervescence, this almost becomes a hopped-up Cream Ale.
-The polite caramel presence has a few toffee angles.
-How great it is to have a new rural brewpub which isn’t shy about using a few hops in their beer!

On tap a couple of times at Brouhaha.

2010-08-13. Crisp dark amber body, good sized creamy beige head. 4+ Modest aroma, weedy tea like character, modest resin, mild malt. 6+ Flavour is similar, modest resin and tea like character, light bitterness throughout, light fruity accents. Smooth average palate. Okay, bit different. Resiny character builds in the aftertaste. Growler shared by Blankboy

On tap @ the brewpub, enjoyed as part of their "compass style" degustation tasting tray. Clear medium gold, ropy lacy white crown. Intense tropical fruit, especially ripe papaya. Lively fruity palate, some floral perfume, moderately bitter finish.

Bouteille 50cl, bottled on 08 avril 2013, lot# 418.

My Growler shared with garthicus, GregClow, tupalev, jerc & mabel. Pours a clear deep amber with an average size semi-lasting off-white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of resiny hops and caramel malt. Flavour of resiny hops upfront backed by caramel malt, some fruit and a hint of vegetal notes. Average bodied. Simple but pleasant.

In short: A well done by-the-book Pale Ale with a bit of everything you want from the style. Highly drinkable.
How: On tap… somewhere… (Brouhaha?)
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a small off-white head leaving good lacing
In long: The pleasant nose is a bit floral and herbal with resinous notes. The body pleasantly light and juicy without feeling watery in any way. The taste has the refreshing fruity notes one expect from a refreshing pale ale. In this case citrus fruits, apricots and even an orange zest. Some caramel and a touch of honey but overall the sweetness level is pleasantly low. The mild bitterness is citrusy, herbal and just a little resinous. An impressive beginning by this newcomer of the quebec beer scene. First beer I have from them and I can already assert that this is in the top-10 Carleton-sur-Mer breweries.

(Rating #2107)
