3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bedainedebiere (493) - Terrebonne, - SEP 20, 2009

On draft at Bateau de nuit. Clear reddish amber with a very resilient white-beige head.Tastes sweet, reminiscent of biscuits. Very good bitterness in the finish, dry. Leaves a lingering citrus aroma, in-mouth. Body is quite full and creamy. Good ale.

Bidon 1.89L. Couleur ambrée - rousse, mousse beige. Arômes de caramel sucré. Goût de malt caramélisé, tire d’érable, houblon. Finale avec une amertume correct et malt. Très bonne...excellente même.

On tap @ the brewpub, enjoyed as part of their "compass style" degustation tasting tray. Dark orange amber with a lasting white head. Toasty caramel aroma with tropical fruit hoppy goodness. Nice intensity to the aroma and the flavour, more nutty nuances on the palate ( pecans). Moderate slightly earthy finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GarnotingPete (357) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 3, 2011
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 30, 2010
In short: A nourishing toasted ale with lots of leafy/woody hops. Nice beer.
How: Tap at Vices & Versa, Montreal
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a small beige head leaving good lacings
In long: Nice nose of leafy hops and toasted crusty bread. Taste packs a good amount of toasted cereals with a flavor that is between bread crust and cake. Sweetness is reminiscent of St- Catherine’s Taffy. Good amount of leafy hops brings a wooden bitterness. Perfect balance. More nourishing than refreshing. A winter session beer. Nothing like the soft refreshing true English ESBs. The beer is straightforward yet it is not quite any other beer I’ve had. I could (and will) down many pints of this beer. Ah crap, another nice session beer from Quebec. It’s because of all those good quebec micros that I have fat in all the wrong places. Now only a carnival mirror can make me look normal. Or really really freaky.

Cruchon 1,82L.

64oz growler. Dark amber body with moderate carbonation and a thick off-white frothy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with woody and grainy hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries oaky notes and ends with a long, sharp bitter finish. Decent ESB.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Lubiere (7002) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 28, 2009
A red copper ESB with a thick light moka head. A rather nutty malt and grainy aroma, earthy, light British hops, herbaceous. In mouth, a sweetish nutty malt, tary, barley sugar, sorghum, a bit underfermented, interesting but overall, cloying. On tap at Brouhaha Nov. 23 2009.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 15, 2009
My Bottom Line:
Lightly toasted and caramelized Québécois barley malt flavors are presented in tandem with earthy and leafy hops for a silky pint of Extra Special Bitter.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A rapidly collapsing veil of foam garnishes the translucent copper.
-The body is lean and the carbonation prickly.
-The hoppy finish is levelled with the flavor profile.
-The hops are also a tad spicy at times.
-This is a simple brew, but it is quite efficient as a session ale and as polished as their other creations.
From a growler.
