Pours an opaque black with spotty light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, malty sweetness, balanced alcohol, and citrus. Taste is made up of roasted malts, citrus, sweet maltiness, grassy, and some alcohol.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours an opaque black with a big frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, slight citrus hops and sweet caramel sugar. Taste is candi sugar, roasted malts, grassy hops and and nice alcohol warming on the finish mixed with a smooth bitterness throughout. Medium high carbonation and an excellent blend of malts and hops and high alcohol make this beer a beauty.

Big pine, and boozy aroma with a hint of caramel and roasted coffee. A hint of dark flavors but dominated by hops. A nice hop forward style but not terribly balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Imperial Balck IPA, not bad. With 85 IBU and 10% alc, you don’t really taste them. Caramel/chocolate/coffee taste and a bit of floral hops, it’s a decent black IPA but not sure about the Imperial part ;-) Not one of the best black IPA from Quebec, but a good one nonetheless. I will need to try it again.

500 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a nice, thick mocha head. Aroma: Very rich and sweet chocolate, black licorice and deep molasses notes, pretty decent pine/resin hops, maybe a bit floral and hoppy?, a touch of eucalyptus, quite deep, dark and delicious. Palate: Medium-full body, very relaxed effervescence. Flav.: Lots of deep dark chocolate, a little black coffee, a good hit of resinous, leafy, eucalyptus hops, molasses and licorice abound, big stuff; dry with good bitterness and a long, inky, deep malt, somewhat hoppy finish.

In a blind tasting, I’d call this a very hoppy Impy Stout. It is hard to say what is appropriate for a IBIPA, since the style doesn’t exist!

[5031-20121224] bottle. Roasted malt grain aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting creamy brown head. More roasted grains and light coffee and peaty notes in the flavour. Medium-full body. Tasty, drinkable. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5
