UPDATED: JUN 20, 2014 Couleur brun chocolat, 6.75% d’alccool. Cheers!

February 11, 2012 - with JoeMcPhee, blankboy, jercraigs & mabel. My 500ml bottle. Deep ruby with an average diminishing tan creamy head. Smells slightly nutty, mostly fruity, a bit floral (7-). Taste follows, it’s pungently sweaty, boozier too. Average body, mild carbonation, a fairly long back-palate slightly metallic bitter finish.

Purchased from the IGA in Hull, QC. Wow... this smells great !! Well-balanced between the fresh herbal hop and the caramel (sweetness)/roasted (burnt) malts. Deep copper-amber colour with a little ruby hue when light shinned through. Foamy beige head with good retention and lots of lacing. Average mouthfeel, easy to drink. The taste is not as powerful as the aromas, but still decent. Still malty, but milder, and the nice hop does appear in the finish, slightly lingering, creating bitterness and dryness. This is a really good strong brown ale (quite interesting and different). I very much enjoyed my first experience from this brewery. Can’t wait to try the others.

On tap. Nothing to add. Good beer. Would drink again. Lighter and easier drinkability than I expected. Malt. Refreshing.

Huge malt bill. Just loads of dark cereal, grainy malts. Very litle hops, and very little sweetness. This is pretty much just a malt bomb of a belgian ale. Even reminded me of a doppelbock. Medium bitter finish, with nothing but grains and cereals in the finish.

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry, JoeMcPhee, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Feb. 11. Pours a very dark brown with a small frothy tan head. Aroma is sugary along with some tart fruit, grain and caramel malt. Flavour of caramel malt, some fruit, grain and yeast. Average bodied. Just O.K.

The nose is softly worty with a little bit of toasted grain character. A little bit of roasted/toasted malt flavour. A little bit of soft fruit and toasted cocoa graininess. A little bit of light yeasty flavour. The fresh malt character comes out as it warms.

Bottle shared by kevinsenn. Yeasty Belgian aroma, ot much else to say about that. Nice deep red colour, with a respectable head. Malty flavor, with very mild spiciness. Spiciness increases in the aftertaste though, with a fair bit of pepperiness. Not too bitter yet not sweet, it’s a well balanced beer. Pretty nice.

500mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours very dark brown with a big head; hadn’t been shaken, but still exploded out of the bottle upon opening. Spicy Belgian aroma with some sweet malt. Sharp spicy taste, with a lot of pepper, and some bitterness in the end. Very interesting.
