On tap at the pub. Light brown pour. Muted aroma with a hint of toast. On the palate caramel and bitter toast. Little flavour or length. Meh.

On tap @ Le Saint Bock. Cola colored beer with a dense khaki head. Roast and licorice aroma. Kinda earthy and grassy. Slight blackberry. Flavor is pretty bitter and roasted malt forward. A lot of grassy hops and some earth, mild citrus, and a bit of pine. Slight ash and acidity to the finish.

On tap @ Le Saint-Bock (Montréal). Dark brown with a medium fully lasting beige head and heavy lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate and light resinous notes. Taste is about the same with a moderate bitter finish. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Slightly dry finish. More on the Stout side than the Black IPA side. A tad too roasty, but still decent. Not that much drinkable though.

On tap at Saint-Bock. Pours dark brown with low beige head. Intense lacing. Aroma is of fruits, sugar, citrus, roasted malt. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, bitterness, slight citrus. Palate: medium body. Overall: Very stouty/porterish. This is not a good black IPA for me: not enough IPA-style. Decent per se anyways, more not more than that.

On tap at Saint Bock. Pours a deep black with a thin to medium sized beige to tan head. Roast and a touch of gentle hops on the nose, with just the faintest paper note. Medium bodied, spicy hops right away, a bit of roast and warming alcohol. The paper note from the nose is here as well but not overly distracting. Finishes with some roast bitterness and a bit of pithiness with a touch of warming alcohol. The paper qualities intensify the longer I drink this however, detracting more heavily deeper into the pint. Unfortunate.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with average-sized tan head. Aroma is light roasty malts and citrusy hops. Flavour has mellow roastiness and a moderate citrusy hoppiness. Not a world beater, but a good black IPA.

Aroma: fresh blend of darker and lighter accents. Very nicely composed. 7+
Appearance: dark brown black with medium off tanned top.3+
Palate / Taste: Medium full bodied. Very clean , proper and balanced. As in aroma had all corners covered. Very nicely brewed , quality was apparent. Very refreshing and satisfying. For some maybe tad too sweet, I like it.
