On tap at Saint-Bock. Pours very dark mahogany with low off-white head. Aroma is of smoke, peat. Taste is of smoke, wood, peat. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Low-medium carbonation. Overall: Smoky but not cloying. Not really drinkable either. I don’t think I would drink this again, but it was’nt bad.

[Draught at the brewpub] Pours a dark amber-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy tan head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoke and toasted malt reminds me more of a Smoked Dark Lager or a Schwarzbier then a Smoked Porter. Roasty, smoky flavour along with some chocolate. Average bodied. Enjoyable, good not great.

2014-06-13 - on draught at Le Saint-Bock. Clear but deep red-black with a pretty solid creamy/foamy tan head, nice mottling and residual lace. Smells like a slightly sweet herbal/floral light porter, no alcohol presence, with just a whiff of sharp campfire/lighter fluid smokiness. Taste follows - mild, but more smoke in it - really more a smoky dark mild than a porter, to my mind. Light body and carbonation, just a little astringency in the finish (lighter fluid more than smoke), which is pretty quick; maybe a bit of chocolate coffee to the malt. Decent, if thin.

Very smokey taste. Like a campfire. Charcoal. Not too bad, can’t really think of it as a porter. Had this as a draft pour at the Saint Bock brewpub in Montreal.

(Rating #5229)

On tap. Pours a clear dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of smoke, smoked meats, sweet malt. Flavor of sweet smoked meats, sweet malt with a smoky finish. Tasty smoked beer, with emphasis on the sweet smoked malt. Hearty, slightly sweet palate. 8/4/8/4/15(3.9/5)

On tap at brewpub. Dark body. Strong smokey aroma. Nice. Taste is also woodsy and smoky bacon, some sweetness. Not a bad rauchbier.

Épicé et fumé sur une charpente fragile. Des notes chocolatés tentent de se faire entendre derrière le voile de boucane.

On tap at Saint Bock. Pours a deep brown to black with a medium sized tan head that deflates quickly. Big smoke on the nose, moves fast into a sweet fruity note. Sort of like a smoked plum. Medium bodied, smoke and a bit of sweetness, a touch of roast. Finishes up with a bit more sweetness, lingering light smoke. Nicely done.
