On tap at the pub. Dark brow-red (pretty clear) with a thick foamy off-white head, average retention and great lacing. Aroma is caramel, toasted malt, floral hops and bread. Flavor is caramel, sugar, floral and earthy hops, nutty notes and a moderately bitter finish. Above average residual sugar for the style. Medium body with a slightly sticky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Very good for a first offer!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 13, 2011
In short: A nutty cookie in a pint. Pleasant nourishing beer.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Opaque milk-chocolate color body topped by a very small beige head
In long: The malty nose is just that, very malty, milk chocolate notes. Taste has a lot of cookies, lots of cashews, some milk chocolate, some tree bark, walnuts, yeast, brownies, some caramel, leafy hops. Rich creamy body with a tickling carbonation. The beer is very muddy but it is pleasantly muddy and very nourishing. Nice walnuts after-taste. Overall sensation of drinking a nutty cookie. Nice even a tiny bit too sweet. This was my first visit to this new pub. I realized I was a excessive pub-crawler when every time I walk into a new brewpub I am greeted with a mysterious voice that says "we’ve been expecting you".
