3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 collieman (191) - montreal, - OCT 11, 2005
Had at the montreal beer-fest, months ago, and just now found my notes on it. Cask conditioned, niiiiice. Pours a hazy golden orange-ish mohagony sheen with a thick foamy white head, and rather flat, but hey, it’s hand pulled. the nose is slightly nutty, with a malty note and some anise aroma, and some traces of ripe peach. Mouthfeel is a little oily, and a little creamy, very nice. Taste is a little disapointing, delicous, but not what I expected. Hop notes are dominant, but mostly floral, with some caramel malt and roasted barly dancing around. undertones are a very small amount of very bitter, almost grapefuitis hops, along with roasted nut, treefruit, and little else. Afternote is a little chewy, with tastes of grapefruit, dark malt and a little left over bitterness in the end. All in all, not much. Plesant enough, and theirs nothing wrong with it, but it;s a little boring, and a little thin. Cask drawn, from a brewpub, you’d expect somthing more intrestong, and I like a little more boddy anyways. Cheers

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 16, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2008 (Cask) Cloudy amber with a foamy long lasting white head. Nose is forestry and grassy. Taste is liquid caramel, floral hops. Below average sweetness (which I like) and very well balanced. Very faithful to the typical English bitter ale style. I can’t imagine it any other way than on cask (probably subtract 0.5 if draught). Won’t be long before it is promoted to Corporal Bitter.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 LadySusan (617) - Ste-Therese, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 15, 2006
The color is dark orange, with the nice smell of hops. The taste goes from honey to caramel. All in all a very good bitter.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2006
Cask. Dark amber body with a small white head. Light caramel and citrus aroma. Sweet buttery notes. Mild hoppy bitterness is quite nice up front but the malt finish is pretty rough. Average cask palate.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 asheft (2072) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 8, 2006
[on cask at brewpub]
Almost clear tea with lasting white froth that formed a little lace. Strawberry malt aroma with notes of grapefruit, caramel--excellent. Unfortunately, the flavour did not live up to what the aroma promised: salty bitterness in front of...nothing. Needs way more caramel malt character. This tasted like a bad british bitter. Light body with low carbonation (cask, of course) and lasting bitterness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 brufrog (15) - New Brunswick, CANADA - MAR 30, 2006
Nose is not bad, but has a dry astringent finish. Needs some malt balance. I relaize this rating is variable due to it being cask beer (practical reasons).
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Miguel (1181) - Saint-Ours, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 12, 2006

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Goldorak (439) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 13, 2005
Dark amber/red, with a thin line of froth.
Honey-sweet hops and very, very floral, like crushing freshly picked hops in your hands.
Creamy mouthfeel, decent malt middle and puckering hop finish, like dipping a crispy biscuit in wildflower honey. Probably the best Beer they make. That being said, there isn’t much of a cask scene in town so maybe if I’m overhyping this Beer in my own mind!
