An amber ale with a thin off white head. A nice malty aroma with light peated notes. In mouth, a good malty racuh with light peated notes, smooth and mineral. Medium bodied. On tap at Mondiale 2009.

Smoked lager, at Festival Bières et Saveurs 2009.Light brown colour, with big soapy white head. Served too cold.Average mouthfeel, some smoke of course in the aroma. A good lager and smoke, but not that drinkable, a glass was too much.

2009-06-06. Dark amber body is essentially headless. Smokey pulled pork and bbq aroma. Flavour is fairly mild, touch of smokey undertones that have a subtle layer that I am not fully appreciating. Average palate. Average beer that is lost on me with the smokey character. Meh. On tap at Mondial 2009, Montreal

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2007 My Bottom Line:
A compelling smoked meat personality flows through the quenching, lean body finishing into a gripping finale where this lengthy earthy smoke evolves into a supporting leafy hop bitterness. A simple and effective Rauchbier from Trou du Diable which has to seduce with its thorough fumes and captivating finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A clinging sheet of foam decorates the clear bronze.
-Carbonation is calm and the body quite snappy.
-A light underlying fruitiness adds some complexity.
-The malty body could be fuller and more expressive to really take this one into the realm of greatness, but as is, it remains a smashing quencher.

On tap at Vices et Versa and at the brewpub.

On tap at Church Key DC: Pours a transparent copper amber with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of rich earthy smoke and sweet toasty caramel malt with a touch of light fruity notes. Starts with average fullness and some nice light malty sweetness with good smoky complexity before a drier, smooth finish. Could use a little more body and sweetness, but has a good smoke profile.

Appearance : Carbonated amber lager with above average creamy top 3+
Nose :Neat well accented smoky character with contrasting plain malty bottom. 7-
Flavour/Palate:
Very meaty , organic . Richly smoked character (ie.ham). Old Europe . True full – freely spirited Smoked lager . No compromise here .

Rastacouere (6129) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 4, 2007
Clearish copper coloured lager with intense carbonation feeding a mostly lasting off-white head. Earthy, woody, shyless aroma where smoke is the dominating turn point, but does not hinder the approaching berries and soft esters. Soft flowery, leafy hops do not bother with procuring much bitterness as the beer was never too sweet to begin with. Placid smoke never bends and the only hindrance might be the metallic element initially perceived from the nose and confirmed in the finish. The malts/yeast had a little acidity to them, though I would still call it fresh and presume this is related to the fact that this came from the bottom of the keg.

Draught. Mondiale 2009 - day 3. Clear amber with a nice frothy/foamy off-white head. Aroma of fresh-cooked maple-smoked bacon - niiiiiiice! Taste of bandaids, sweet roast malt and campfire ash. Light of body, quite astringent, quick-finishing with a nice smoky tang left on the tongue. I loved it - BACON!!!!!

The look: clear amber body topped by a large off-white head
The style: Classic german-style Smoked
The stuff: First thing first I should specify that I got the end of a keg. The pint I requested turned-out to be 2/3 pint despite all the efforts of the waiter. Nose has medium intensity smoke with a definite meaty element to it (pork?). The beer had a full thick body but it might be because it was the end of the keg and I got all the meat. I got a doughy cheesy yeast sensation and the malt profile had a slight bagels feel to it. The whole think ended-up feeling like a meaty smoked cheese-cake! Not much fruitiness, spices or whatever else and it was just fine like that. Whether it’s a relationship or a Trou Du Diable beer I’m always looking forward for the consummation.
The how: On tap at Vices & Versa
The conclusion: Fulfilling meaty Smoked, I Really liked it. Need to have it again to make sure my end-of-keg glass was or wasn’t what it’s supposed to be.

[2254-20090606] Sample. Smoked ham aroma. Clear, golden amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Smoky ham flavour has lots of malt then after is smoky. Medium body. Weird pork notes, but good.
