beerbuzzmontreal (2747), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 11, 2008Sampled on tap at Vices et versa. Pours a deep black color with a light brown head. Very seductive aroma of black licorice, chocolate and roasted malt. Superb, balanced flavor of chocolate, black licorice and roasted malt with a mild bitter finish. The body is light and liquorous while the carbonation is gentle. It’s a very pleasant and dangerously easy to drink baltic porter. Good shit! Goldorak (427), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 22, 2007 Dark as night, it first had a perfectly pearly white head that was an amazing contrast in color. I had to ruin it all by swirling my glass around, which promptly turned the head into mocha.
Cocoa powder and freshly ground coffee, it smelled like inside those high-end coffee shops/dessert cafés.
Plenty of dark fruits (blackberries) gives it a good sweetness and licorice - not enough for me not to like it, I’m usually not a big fan but it worked. Moderate body and flavor tends to be more chocolate than coffee, which suits me just fine. Perfect amount of alcohol warms your throat without burning it. Another winner from a great brewpub.

Wealthy dark chocolate establishes itself languorously atop the roasted maltiness, while molasses add a dash of sweetness to this plump and reverend Baltic Porter.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the pitch black.
-This has world-class potential written all over it; they just need to let it wisen up a bit for the yeast to add even more complexity.
-The nose indeed needs time, as for now it’s not as expressive as it could be.
-The finish has a touch of nascent vinosity, but it’s barely there for now.
-All malt flavors are united for the greater good, and continue into the finish.
-The lovable, round body is one of its finest features.
