3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Goldorak (439) - Montreal, - AUG 22, 2007
Dark as night, it first had a perfectly pearly white head that was an amazing contrast in color. I had to ruin it all by swirling my glass around, which promptly turned the head into mocha.
Cocoa powder and freshly ground coffee, it smelled like inside those high-end coffee shops/dessert cafés.
Plenty of dark fruits (blackberries) gives it a good sweetness and licorice - not enough for me not to like it, I’m usually not a big fan but it worked. Moderate body and flavor tends to be more chocolate than coffee, which suits me just fine. Perfect amount of alcohol warms your throat without burning it. Another winner from a great brewpub.

On tap at the brewery. Sample. Dark brown color, big brown head. Strong malty chocolate aroma. Chocolate and roasted caramelised malts are dominant in the taste. Full andcreamy mouthfeel. Bitter finish. Not usually my style but like everyother beer at the brewpub, it went down smoothly!
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tom_clift (44) - Carnegie, AUSTRALIA - NOV 22, 2010
Keg. Toast and spicy aroma. Relatively light on body but big on very astringent chocolate malt. I didn’t enjoy this so much due to the high astringency, but I’d like to try it again based on all others’ high ratings.

On tap at TDD. Dark brown pour with hints of red. Nice roasted aroma mixed with candied fruits and coffee. Taste is not overwhelming, just a nice balance of fruity sweetness and roasted bitterness. Palate is a bit thin, but quite enjoyable.
