Bottle from the brewery store, enjoyed in my hotel room in the beer wasteland of Havre St Pierre Quebec. Solid black color with a huge bubbly tan head with great retention. Rich chocolate with light fruitiness and somewhat of a dubbel profile. Tasty, but not quite what I was expecting.

Bottle. Molasses and dried fruit aroma that is sweet and with some faint vanilla and toasted hazelnuts. Opaque dark brown with clear brown highlights under a lasting tan sheet. Dry and smoky flavour that is somewhat meaty with licorice and vanilla notes in the finish. Slightly warming, with medium carbonation, slightly crisp, surprisingly dry.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown colour with slight copper highlights. The head is big, warm beige-coloured, goes down very slowly leaving some creamy-foamy lacing. Sharp aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, apples, alcohol, with hints of licorice, herbs and nuts. That sharpness is also present in the taste with the grassy hops and roasted malts, but it smooths down in the middle showing some coffee and apples. So, more on the apples side of things, than dark fruits that I am use to with porters. Nice coffee lingering. Stout like ? Still, I quite like this beer.
