on tap at brewpub. light murky golden, almost copper, with a thin and creamy beige head, good retention and lacing. nose of funky-brett and fruitiness - apricots, pears, along with floral hops and a medium long bittering grapefruit finish. taste is cereals - a little watery, floral hops and brett. light carbonation, light to medium body. the blend of a load of floral hops and brett is great !

In short: A very good full bodied funky-brett IPA.
How: Tap at Chambly beer Fest 2010. Multiple samples
The look: Cloudy dark orange topped by a small beige head
In long: The strong nose is hoppy and bretty blending pine-tree, leather and grapefruits. Taste is grainy malts, crunchy caramel, moderate funk, coniferous tree, dirty leather, medium resinous bitterness. Finish is mostly dry leaving a leathery and dry pine-tree after-taste. Big body. This is nourishing tasty beer, not a refreshing IPA. A few years ago most attempts at funky IPAs were unconvincing. Nowadays good example of brett IPAs are plenty. I’m starting to think that brett and IPA go together like nerds and braces.

A dark maple amber hazed ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, a smooth biscuitty malt with nice herbaceous hops and good Brett notes. In mouth, a nice crisp malt with super present Brett, czech hops, pinhey notes, grassy and notes, smooth and balanced. On tap at Octoberfest des Québécois, Sept. 12 2010.

(Rating #3247)

Tap at Chambly’s Bières et Saveurs. Québec’s best rendition of an Orval? Orval beers often have their personnalities bottle to bottle; blindfolded, I could be fooled, although the brett and the hops being slightly more intense here.. And the overall roundness not playing in the same league... What am I doing here? Comparing this brew to Orval? Great beer for sure.

My Bottom Line:
This very bitter Wild IPA sends plenty of coniferous brett atop the everlasting earthy and resinous finish, a flavor profile which is linked by peach esters and lean caramelized cereals.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the cloudy amber.
-Hop profile is mainly earthy and resinous, but citrus fruit also join in from nose to aftertaste.
-The mouthfeel is comfortable with its soft effervescence and tight malt profile.
-These malts also offer cookie-like flavors.
-The entire beer may be intense, but its flavor profile is always harmonious. That finish though might be too bitter for me to enjoy more than a pint,

On tap at the Chambly festival.

Sample drank at "La Soirée des Brasseurs 2010" in Shawinigan, on August 13. Misty red canamel, little head. Aroma of red fruit hop, not bitter. Taste not very hoppy, but alot of slightly fruity Bret, very bitter aftertaste. To much Bret!
