THIS ENTRY IS FOR BARREL-AGED Buteuse only. It is only available in 750 ml bottles. 375, 500 and 650 ml bottles are made of the regular Buteuse. This version has been aged in oak barrels which had previously held an apple brandy from the Michel Jodoin cidery. One of its fermentations was also done with brettanomyces.

"Cette bière exceptionnelle, fermentée grâce à trois levures différentes, a vieillie quatre mois en fût de chêne américain ayant hébergé le brandy de pomme de la cidrerie Michel Jodoin. On y retrouve un côté vanillé, épicé, torréfié et animal. S’y mélange aux effluves d’alcool chaud le caramel brûlé, la pêche, l’abricot et le tabac frais. Une sérieuse bière de dégustation!"

Bottle @ WWT IV, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short head. Aroma of brett, slight apple, bit spicy, hint of vanilla, touch of funk. Soft sweet taste, bit dry as well. Orval on steroids with a hint of barrel. Like it.

Bottle @ WWT IV, courtesy of caesar, thnx to JulienHuxley. Pours a hazy amberish beer with a small white head on top. Aroma of Belgian yeast , white fruits, light oaky notes. Flavor is a bit boozy, slightly brandy. Overall the yeast is a bit strong in this one. A bit overrated maybe, but still quite ok to be honest.

Bottle at WWT tasting. Slight hazy golden with nice white head. Lots of Brett on the nose. Yoghurt, hay, very funky, light nuts, pineapple, cider-like notes, quite herbal too towards the finish. Very light sweet with a nice light tartness throughout. Medium bodied. Has a lot of Orval similarities, but with some rougher edges. Very nice.

Clear light copper with a tiny head. Barnyard, apple brandy, honey sweetness, spicy. Very, very well balanced, a little sweet, not much bitterness. Full body, slick but very smooth, highly drinkable. A masterpiece
