Good looking amber, somewhere in between copper and bronze, with a thin and steardy white head.

Obviously the smoke is dominant, more of a firewood aroma rather than hickory or bacon. Some residual fruityness towards the end.

The peated malt really shines (98% smoked Bamberg malt the brewer told me) without going overboard, it stays crisp and remarkably refreshing. Smokey finale with just a faint bitter hoppyness at the very tail end. A fantastic and quaffable brew, not as rich as Schlenkerla (spelling?) but that’s not a bad thing. Paired up perfectly with the salted stringy cheese and homemade beef jerky.
beerbuzzmontreal (2769), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 11, 2008 Pours a clear copper color with a thin white head. Very pleasant aroma of smoked malt that leaves an image of smoked ham in my mind. Very good flavor of smoked ham, there’s a strong malt presence in there and mild hops. The body is medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. DYCSoccer17 (2049), Davis, California, USA Nov 24, 2007 20 oz imperial pint on tap at Vices et Versa in Montreal. Aroma is a touch sour, acetic with some definite smoked malts present. Bacon aromas, etc that lead this beer to be quite quaffable. Attractive transparent amber-copper body with a frothy off-white head and nice lacing present. Smoked malty, chewy start which becomes a bit acidic and astringent. Finishes with a nice bitter, grassy, hoppiness. Very late, burnt, roasted maltiness. A very solid rauchbier. Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 4, 2007 Clearish copper coloured lager with intense carbonation feeding a mostly lasting off-white head. Earthy, woody, shyless aroma where smoke is the dominating turn point, but does not hinder the approaching berries and soft esters. Soft flowery, leafy hops do not bother with procuring much bitterness as the beer was never too sweet to begin with. Placid smoke never bends and the only hindrance might be the metallic element initially perceived from the nose and confirmed in the finish. The malts/yeast had a little acidity to them, though I would still call it fresh and presume this is related to the fact that this came from the bottom of the keg. TaktikMTL (2042), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada Oct 4, 2007 En fût. (Rating #1296) mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 28, 2007 Draught.
Copper-amber body with a creamy white head. Nice hammy malt aroma with some light berry fruits. Light body with mild flavourful bitterness and calming smokiness. Pretty solid.
