[3606-20110219] Tap. Intensely sweet ice wine aroma has some grassy urine notes (but oddly not in a bad way). Clear, golden orange body with a quick foamy white head. Bitter white wine and boozy sweet ice grapes continues in the flavour. Medium body. Really intense everything, powerful and a little intimidating but I like the blend of the bitter hops with that ice wine characteristic. (8/4/8/3/15) 3.8
Overheard: "It’s a lot of Sauvignon Blanc."

Note: 6+/10

February 19, 2011 - at Volo Trou du Diable event. Clear gold with smallish diminishing creamy-frothy off-white head. I heard "ice wine" bandied about re this one, but to me it smelled - it the best possible way - of catnip and cat piss, pungent, massively sweet, but way back there - a bit boozy too; so what, love it. Taste - catnip, crushed fresh mint leaves, green grass, alcohol, hint of Belgian spiciness - unbalanced and decidedly weird for a DIPA, but I liked it. Light bodied, massively astringent, weak carbonation, but a very long back-palate pungent bitter finish .... definitely its own beast, but what a beast!

On tap at le mondiale 2011. Hazy yellow pour, good aroma of citrucy hops, some fresh cut grass, even a bit of lemon grass. Decent malts, subtle but they are there. Solid dry bitter finish.

Draft: Poured a bright amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter and citrusy notes is very nice. Taste is a complex and drinkable mix of citrus and resinous notes with lightly bitter final and a solid malt backbone that doesn’t take away from the hops profile. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent reason. Very well brewed and something I wouldn’t mind having access to on amore regular basis.

On tap at Mondial de la bière 2011. Pale golden with a medium white head with good retention. Aroma is very citrusy and piney, a lot of fresh hops, with pale malt and alcohol. Flavor is lots of resiny hops, citrus, pale malt, and a bitter finish. Very well balanced without any unecesssary bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel.

Lots of hop and spice on the nose. thick citrus fruit on the palate. alcohol is very subdued considering how big a beer this is. good mix of hops and malt on the finish. not to be missed.

Tap at Volo. Deep golden pour with a tight white head. The aroma is ridiculous. Spicy and fruity with a load of sauvin hops over slightly sweet tropical fruit. Dry malts and sweet, fruity hoppiness. Silky smooth, rich and tropical. There is a mix of tropical fruit and a musky herba spicy hop finish. Awesome.

Draft. Crystal clear light amber body, creamy white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange, some grapefruit/grape. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, light grapefruit. Medium body, low carbonation. Nice, but fairly tame hoppiness for an IIPA.
