Amazingly complex beer. Smell the funk! Deep amber cloudy orange appearance with thin white head. Slightly sour but very well balanced. Wonderful mouthfeel, with slight carbonation. Expensive yes, but worth every penny.

At Moeder Lambic Fontainas, with S&G Tasting group, first day trip. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, nice stable white head. NOSE: grains, fruity, hoppy, bitter. TASTE: fruity, sweet, candy? Nice, little sour.

Bottle, on multiple occasions at this point in time, as this has become one of my all time favourite beers. I’ve given this beer as a gift and in trade more than any other. I’ve resisted rating it until now because I want to do it justice, but maybe I’ll keep it simple. This beer more than any other for me, illustrates how lovely, complex, and subtle Brett can be. To me, this beer is perfect drinkable funk. Honey sweetness, vinous, funky earthy barnyard and cheese. Wonderful balance, so drinkable. A perennial favourite.

750 ml bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours hazy golden with a big frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of thick sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and funky with crackers, pink grapefruit juice, grapes, moist wood, dry soil, hay, pineapple, mango, passion fruit and purple winegums. Taste is slightly sour, fruity and funky with crackers, dark grapes, dry soil, pink grapefruit juice, barnyard, hay, leather, pineapple, mango, orange zest, moist buttery wood and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is soft, round, dry, tart and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sour and fruity with crackers, dark grapes, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, hay, dry soil, pineapple, mango, barnyard, leather and buttery wood.

Bottle at the mondiale 2014. Im glad i did a little snooping, they ran out of this beer on tap, but hadnt chnaged the sign indicating they now had some in bottle. I managed to snipe a look behind the counter and spot a bottle! Score! Hazy amber pour, small off white head. Aroma is loads of funk, wood, oak, vanilla, spices, and stone fruit, the body is perfect, and the carb is very low, almost flat. The finish is tangy and funky, with notes of horse blanket, stone fruit, and very tart citrus. The wood brings everything together with a leathery, oaky, vanilla glove. Very complex, and exceptional ale.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Alexey and Refaela’s place. Thanks zvikar. Cloudy golden-orange. Big bretty aroma with barnyard, manure, cheesy notes, fruits and oak. Sourish funky flavor, a bit sweetish, with fruitiness, oak and a bitter finish with a bit of apples. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. Very good.

750ml bottle. These guys have immensely complex beers, spices, oak, ginger, stopricla fruit, bit of funk, urinal cake. Nice.

Bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver
Beautiful golden color, slightly hazy, with creamy and persistent head, very fine perlage. Harmonious aroma, lightly fruity, with some Brett, cellar smell, wet hay, Alpine toma cheese, a hint of bread. The mouthfeel is very smooth, and not too dry; gentle malt flavor, with well defined Brett presence leading to a mildly astringent final; pleasant lingering fruitiness, white grapes; correctly the bitterness is not very high, leaving more room to the mild acidity and astringency.
Extremely well crafted beer, harmonious and intriguing. It’s a pity that Le Trou Du Diable beers are expensive beyond reason.

Bottle - 750ml at Mondial de la Bière (Montréal, QC). Hazy blond body with an average, white creamy head. Fresh hoppy aroma with malty, citrusy, and flowery hints. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries flowery, citrusy, herbal, and yeasty notes. Ends with a sharp bitter/sour finish. Well done.
