3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cunningham (2972) - Halden, NORWAY - APR 12, 2013
Appearance: Clear deep caramel brown color with a big tan head that leaves a nice lacing. The head ends up as a fine layer after a while. Aroma: If I closed my eyes I could have guessed that it was a dunkel weisse. Lots of banana here. Also caramel malty, fruity and yeast. Palate: Medium pluss body. Moderate sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation. Taste: Sweet malty, fruity and a lot of banana. Yeast and a some warming alcohol. The alcohol is not disturbing. Overall impression: Nice tasty and easy drinkable Belgian strong ale. Personal stats: Bottle from Vinmonopolet Oslo - Vika in Oslo, Norway.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DYCSoccer17 (3012) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 1, 2013
500mL bottle purchased at The Davis Food Co-Op. The aroma has some smokiness present, along with a bit of a rubbery, pool-toys component. Light fruity, spiciness. Kinda gnarly. Somewhat turbid dark amber body with a small, weak, quickly dissipating whitish head present. Starts a little spicy with hints of white pepper. Becomes sweet and malty in the middle with light caramel and some smoked maltiness, too. Pretty thin-bodied, though. Finishes with light berry fruitiness, which then follows with a burnt roastiness. An interesting beer, but too many things are going in too many directions. The body is thin, and the carbonation is weak.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 tfredvik (630) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 29, 2013
A light gusher, but I still managed to get all the clear, dark copper liquid into my trappist glass. The frothy, smallish head is very short-lived and disappears almost completely and leaves virtually no lacing. Strong and sweet aroma with a fun mix of dark dried fruits and ripe banana notes. Also spices, Belgian yeast and a vinous feel. Moderate plus sweet taste while the bitterness in the finish is light. Quite sugary flavour profile with dark candi sugar, and again the dark dried fruits/ripe banana mixture. Spices, Belgian yeast and vinous alcohol. Even though I get spices both in the aroma and the flavour, I don’t find this very christmassy. Medium to full body, oily texture, moderate carbonation. Nice and sweet beer.
