3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Dutch’s. Clear darker red color. Thin off-white head. Decent kind of loose splotches and ropes of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. A bit more soft and dry than other belgian strong ales. Some dark fruit, winter spices, some herbal earthy characteristics. Pleasantly toasty, some cinnamon. Hint of cold medicine. Moderate-plus bitter taste, light to moderate sweet, more dry taste in the finish, kind of spicy. Solid, different take on a belgian strong ale. Spicier and more on the dry side, with a tingly texture to the carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, yeast and small alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where are mixed with an interesting brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a dark amber color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, floral notes, fruity, mild spices, soft, almost soapy mouth feel, yeast, I can’t help but think that this is some fruity, floral thing right out of Bed, Bath and Beyond. Interesting beer, don’t know if I would do it again.

Pours a hazy brown with a small (and weak) head that leaves close to lacing. Aroma of banana bread and spices. Taste is fruity, full of banana esters. Mouth feel is silky, body medium. Carbonation is medium. Good beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
600ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a 2 finger light beige head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is predominantly cinnamon with perhaps some allspice and cardamom. Taste is cinnamon with some caramel and dark fruit (maybe cherries) sweetness and a grassy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with generous carbonation. A pretty good Christmas ale.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour out of 500 mL bottle, dark reddish copper pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, cinnamon, clove, some ginger into some dark fruit, red cherry, some nice caramel, dark caramelized sugars, touch of yeasty spice. Taste is a mix of sweet caramel, toffee, right into cinnamon, clove, allspice, touch of dark fruit with plum, candied raisin, some nice cherry notes into some slight apple but not tart, hints of nuts, some spice, finishing sweet. Delicious.

600ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha in Gatineau, Quebec. Dark amber in colour with a thin off-white head, light lacing. The aroma has lots of spice, bread, dark fruits, some caramel. The flavour is lightly spiced, some bread and caramel, yeasty. Filling with moderate carbonation. Finishes very light alcohol warmth, more spice.
