COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

2006 vintage - 9.5% ABV, subsequent batches 7.5% ABV.

Sweet, spicy. cardamum, cinnamon. Christmassy, quite all right, but there is no need to ship stuff like this around the globe.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Manglerud enjoyed at home
Amber red, thin tanned head with nice lacings. Smells of roast, banana, yeast and some hops. Heavy sweet, very malty, dark fruits and yeast. Moderate bitter, earthy bitterness. A quite belgian style from the new world

Bottle. It pours a deep amber to chestnut colored body, not entirely clear. A dense, finger-thick, light beige head sits patiently on top. The aroma is lightly perfumed and flowery, with banana esters and malty sweetness in the back. Some bubble gum and a faint spiced hint too. And the alcohol is detectable as well. It’s lightly warming on the palate, with caramel, bread and some sweetness as a foundation for banana and some bubble gum and spicyness. Cardamom and cloves I think it is. It’s full-bodied, quite effervescent and warming on the palate. Some bitterness shows up in the end, but it’s mostly the bready, caramel sweetness and banana that runs the show. Quite lasting finish. A fine beer indeed, although a bit on the sweet side. Reminds me very much of a weizenbock with hints of Belgian-style sweetness. Think I’ll have to buy more of this one. 130303

Bottle. Red copper colour with a dense beige head. Sweet and spiced fruit aroma. Quite a lot spices in the mouth, some aniseed, definitely on the sweet side. Not quite there.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, light brown, fully diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of cinnamon, clove, cola, orange peel. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Pleasant and clean but not very exciting or particularly satisfying to drink.
