COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On tap at Blind Tiger with Andy, Max, Nicole, Jen, and Dad. Pours a deep brown with a large tan beige head. Deflates a bit but still lingers. Sour acid on the nose. Tannins, wood, roast and cocoa. Tangy with soft old fruit, light acetone. Would be tough to drink two, but very tasty. Warming on the finish.

Another complex and interesting beer from these brewers. Very light for a porter. And definitely more sour than I expected.

Draft at Blind Tiger with Streets and the RB gang. Pours a black body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is sour fruit, wine barrel, oak and very faint roast. Mouthfeel is medium to full with notes of oak, lots of wine, dark sour fruits, roast, and wood. A touch too sweet, but this is really nice.

Draft at Blind Tiger for the DDC event with Max, Andy, Jay, JRedmond and others. Pours deep brownish black with a reddish tinge with a compact tan head. Aroma is slighlty sour of dark fruits (cherries and raisins) and malt with lots of vinous notes. Taste is woody, oaky and vinous with notes of tannins. Tons of oak/wine in the flavor here. More sour than porter. An interesting beer.

Bottle - 750ml. Opaque black body with an average beige creamy/bubbly head. Robust hoppy aroma with malty, vineous, and citrusy hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Its complex, well balanced hoppy taste carries oaky, vineous, and plummy notes. Ends with a long, strong bitter/sour finish. Very well done.

Bouteille 750ml. (20 mars 2013)

Bottle (Hivernale): Poured a dark black color porter with a medium size light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sour cherry notes with lots of oak notes and some light dry roasted malt notes. Taste is a mix between some porter notes of chocolate and dry roasted malt offset by some cherry notes with quite a bit of oak and some tart notes. The sour notes are definitely stronger then the porter notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting concept though not necessarily a flavour profile that I would seek on a regular basis.

Bottle 750ml. At TDD. Pours dark brown with very low beige head. Aroma and taste are of fruits, roasted malt, red wine, some bretts. Palate: medium body. Overall: I did’nt take much notes, but I’d say this one was good, but not as good as expected. Weird style, high hopes, etc. Still a nice one I’d recommand trying if it was affordable.

Bottle at DDC. A dark brown pour with beige off-white head. Vanilla and nuts blends nicely with sour characteristics. Strong vinous notes with evident bugs and red cherries. Flavor is mostly sour cherries and red wine. Vanilla and chocolate sweetness. This a very rare example of a succesfull dark sour ale. Dark malts aren’t too roasty or sweet and complement the sourness. It didn’t feel wierdto me as it did with other example of the style such as The Bruery Tart of Darkness or Jolly Pumpkin Madruga Obscura.
