3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pushkinwow (1338) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 26, 2012
750ml bottle, thanks to tom10101, brewed March 2012. Dark brown with a blended mocha head that gradually settles to leave a nice layer across the glass. Semi-sweet and roasted malts, oddly enough a bit of salt, smoked trout, espresso, some light bourbon and oak, things are a bit muted overall. Moderate carbonation, slightly strange body which is both light and medium in nature (might be the affect of the bourbon aging), mild sweetness that disappears quickly to leave more of a bitter taste that becomes dry, leaving some cocoa, malts, peat and espresso.

Datk brown. Aroma of wood and maybe a bit of wine. Rich taste but mors boozy and lightly fruity...lacks the malt richness I prefer and goes down a bit hot. Ok, but a bit disappointing.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 PatIrish (160) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 9, 2012
Pours a dark oil like black with a espresso like tan crema head. Very smoky, roasted malts, toast, caramel, coffee all on the nose. Big and bitter on the palate, a sharpness to the smoky flavour that is coming from the barrel aging. Intense and enjoyable.

750ml shared by ygtbsm94: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a stringy-lacing beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel and smoked malty nose with some brown sugar and vanilla notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and fine carbonation with a hint of vinous oak and sweet dark caramel maltiness with some dark chocolate and earthy smoky bitterness toward the finish. Pretty well-balanced and should age well.
