This imperial stout, aged in bourbon barrels, gives notes of roasted malt on a coffee, dark chocolate and caramel background. The velvety palate is sustained by a sagacious amount of alcohol warmth that give this beer the taste and feel of a fine spirit.

Bourbon influence is strong here. Pours black with good lacing and head. Aroma of strong bourbon - a little unbalanced actually. Some vanilla and coffee as well. Booze in finish. Ok but overpriced and overhyped. Bottle thanks to Delires des terroirs for finding this one in the back for me.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of black chocolate and light roasted malt notes with light bourbon notes though not as much vanilla as I would have expected. Taste is also mostly dominated by black chocolate notes with light green notes and light dry roasted malt. Bourbon notes are more subdued then I was expecting with almost no vanilla notes perceptible. Body isn’t as full as expected with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall not bad though not as complex as expected with not as much bourbon notes as expected as well.

Bottle fm brewery. Black, blue black inky deep. Meaty aroma, salty. Bite. Salted prunes. Vanilla subtle. Gentle but lively. My god this is gorgeous salty, dry, delicious, drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml capped bottle pours black in color with a 2 finger light beige head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass while settling. Aroma is bourbon with some raisin and chocolate. Taste is bourbon with a chocolate malty and raisin sweetness with a moderate alcohol burn in the finish. Would rate even higher with more of a roasted presence, seems just slightly imbalanced towards the sweet side, but tasty nonetheless.

She poured me a beverage. A bottled black beverage big and foamy on top. Aroma is dusty malt absent any big alcohol note. Flavour has some depth, a dark fruit note. Light swetness. Some sourness. Some sweetness. a cold coffee stout. And then strong hints of the bourbon barrel.

Creamy, off-white head atop a black body. Nose is slightly sour, wooden and bourbon. Steep in flavour - very smooth, red wine, toasty malt and cocoa nibs. Thin finish. Very good.

Poured deep dark brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of vanilla, roast malt, dark fruit and chocolate. Full body, quite vinous, chocolate, dry, sweet end.

Bottle. Dark syrupy pour, no head. Aroma of burnt sugar, caramel, light coffee, some light bourbon notes. Taste is quite sweet, molasses with a bit of a roasted grain finale. Palate is a little syrupy, good body, not too heavy because of the slightly boozy finish but lacks carbonation. Decent IS.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, brett, light bourbon, bit of funk. Light sweet, light sour flavour, lots of coffee. Finish bourbon, some sweet alcohol, light tart notes. Bit funky but works really well.
(from bottle shared @ joes’ bbq tasting, Oirschot. Bottle from trade with mathieuc, thanks!!)
