Draft at Craft. Poured hazy deep brown with nose of cherry, scotch malt, earthy peaty notes. Tasted of cherry, earthy malt, hops, and some sweetness at the finish.

Tap at Le Trèfle, this was served to me as the standard Claymore, but I know it wasn’t. Very dark brown pour, slightly murky, nice white head. Aroma is all sweet and syrupy cherries, slightly tart but mainly sweet cherry taste, tastes a lot like cough syrup. Smooth palate, this beer needs some getting used to but it isn’t bad.

On tap at Brouhaha. Muddy brown with a thin white head. Aroma is tart cherries, malt and a bit of cough syrup. Flavor is sweet and tart cherries, sweet malt, toasted notes and fruits. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel.

Mahogany in colour with a thing white head, light lacing. The aroma is of cherries, light caramel malts, oak and vanilla. The flavour is quite sweet, lots of cherries, quite malty, some caramel. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes sweet with some light alcohol warmth, malty.

I wasn’t digging the cherry aspect of this beer, distracting. I much prefer the original.

Draught at Mondial 2009 in Montreal, Quebec.

Sampled on June 4, 2009.

[Draft @ UJ’s Manatawny] Lightly hazy, amber brown color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of cherries, vanilla, oak, caramel, nuts, roasted malts, and light smoke. Taste of vanilla, toffee malts, roast, smoke, caramel, sweeter cherries, and some alcohol in the finish.

Tap at U Jacks. Pours a translucent amber with little to no head. Aroma of cherry fruit roll-ups, with some oaky notes and a yeah...cherry stuff. Flavor of was actually a lot the same. Can’t get fruit roll up out my head.

[2218-20090605] Sample. Deep dank cherry wood aroma has rich fruits. Clear, dark brown amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Smoky cherry wood flavour has mild vanilla sweetness. Medium body is a little boozy. Nice cherry sweet vanilla hints.

On tap @ Mondial 2009. Malty nose with a touch of pitfruit, copper, wears a small tan head. Cherry dominates the taste, has a decent malt back up. Medium bodied, just the right level of sweetnes has a dry finish. Terrific!

2009-06-05. Dark brown body with a modest beige head, looks nice in the light with some interesting highlights. (3+) Very mild aroma, light cherries over muted malts. Flavour is similarly mild, with a muted base of malt that is sweet, with mild overtones of sweet cherries that are pleasant but muted. (6+). Smooth average plus palate is lightly carbonated. Decent but surprisingly mild. I expected a lot more oomph to it. On tap at Mondial 2009, Montreal
